Urodynamic research. Prices, reviews, ratings
General information
Today, this research method is considered one of the best in the field of urology, since it makes it possible to fully determine the causes and nature of urination disorders in order to select the most effective course of treatment for any urological disease.
Procedure
Preparation
Before this study requires a preparatory course:
- Three days before the study, the patient is recommended to keep a special diary in which he records the time of urination, the amount of urine and compares the volume of liquid absorbed with the amount of urine excreted.
- In the evening of the day before the operation, the patient is prescribed the antibiotic Monural to prevent infection and inflammation.
- Also in the evening before the diagnostic procedures, the patient is prescribed an enema or he must independently empty the intestines of fecal waste in the morning in order to prevent false test results.
- To perform the “pressure-flow” procedure, the patient is also asked to remove hair in the perineum, since special sensors are glued to this area to assess the functionality of the pelvic floor muscles.
The process of conducting KUDI
As a rule, a urodynamic study is carried out in several stages, which are necessary for a comprehensive assessment of the lower urinary tract:
- Urine analysis is performed to detect the presence of certain elements in it that indicate any disorders.
- Cystometry is performed by inserting a thin catheter into the bladder, with the help of which the bladder is filled with a certain substance. The doctor evaluates the pressure in it, the capacity of the bladder and the moment of the desire to empty the bladder.
- Cytoscopy is done to examine the internal state of the urethra and bladder by inserting a device such as a cytoscope;
- Uroloflowmetry allows you to measure the amount of urine excreted and the speed of its flow during excretion, also using the necessary instrument.
- Profilometry of the urethra is carried out by inserting a catheter into it to evaluate the pressure needed to hold urine in the walls of the canal.
- Residual urine volume is examined by inserting a catheter into the bladder cavity after emptying the bladder. At this stage, the amount of urine remaining in the bladder is determined.
- The stress test is performed by patients performing any physical activity to determine the nature of the signs of urinary incontinence.
- The "pressure-flow" method reveals the pressure of the bladder muscles and the flow of urine simultaneously.
After receiving the results of the diagnostic procedures, the attending physician selects the appropriate course of treatment. The duration of the comprehensive urodynamic study is one day.
Indications
The patient's attending physician gives the appointment for KUDI after a preliminary examination and consultation. Such a study is usually indicated in the presence of the following symptoms:
- too frequent urge to empty the bladder;
- urinary incontinence (when coughing, sneezing, laughing, running, or with urgent incontinence, in which the patient is unable to hold back urination due to a strong urge to empty the bladder);
- very rare and difficult urination;
- intermittent or weak urine stream;
- chronic cystitis;
- chronic prostatitis.
Prices and clinics
Urodynamic examination can be performed in any medical institution if it has a urology department. This set of diagnostic measures is carried out on the direct recommendations of an experienced urologist and under his close supervision. The most convenient way to find out the cost of this procedure and the addresses of clinics providing this service is through the medical portal .
