Bladder lavage. Prices, reviews, ratings
General information
Most often, this procedure is carried out in the treatment of acute cystitis. By using a rubber catheter to eliminate any signs of inflammation in the bladder and using special solutions, a therapeutic effect is exerted on its mucous membrane.
Procedure
Preparation
Before starting the procedure, the doctor evaluates the "capacity" of the bladder based on the amount of fluid released during one urination. Then it is necessary to make sure that the prepared items are sterile, namely: a catheter, a Janet syringe (100-200 cm3) or an Esmarch mug. The necessary solutions are also prepared. Esmarch's mug is usually suspended at a height of up to 1 m. The patient is placed on his back or seated in a urological chair with his knees bent and his legs spread wide apart.
The process of washing the bladder
The process of washing the bladder has several stages:
- a catheter is inserted into the urethra in order to wash its front part;
- then the catheter is inserted into the bladder and urine is drained;
- then an Esmarch mug or a Janet syringe is attached to the catheter, after which the liquid is injected into the bladder until the patient has the urge to "go to the toilet";
- when such an urge occurs, the mug or syringe is disconnected and the solution is drained;
- the procedure is repeated until clean and clear liquid (8 to 10 times, using 1-2 liters of solution);
- the catheter is carefully removed.
The amount of solution required for administration is determined based on an assessment of the bladder capacity and the situation itself. On average, one such portion is equal to 50 ml.
It is forbidden to introduce liquid into the bladder to cause pain syndrome and an extremely strong urge to urinate, as well as to stretch its walls in this way.
Rehabilitation period
After such a procedure, the patient is recommended to observe bed rest for 30 to 60 minutes.
