General information

The following drugs are registered in Russia:

  • Pneumo-23 (for children over 2 years old and adults), administered once, immunity lasts for 5-8 years;
  • Previnar-13 (from 2 months to 5 years), according to the schedule, is released with a disposable syringe and needle for one dose of 0.5 ml.

Preparation for vaccination

Before the administration of the drug, a doctor's examination, thermometry, clarification of individual indications and the administration schedule are mandatory.

Process of administration

Previnar-13 (up to 24 months) is administered into the muscle of the anterior lateral surface of the thigh, for adults - into the deltoid muscle of the upper third of the shoulder, for children - individually and according to the schedule: at 3, 4.5 and 6 months, with revaccination at 1.5 years.

In Russia, the vaccine is included in the national calendar of preventive vaccinations, Immunization is carried out free of charge on a mass scale, twice with an interval of 2 months and a repeat at 15 months.

If a child is vaccinated later (from 7 to 11 months), it is administered twice with an interval of 30 days and a repeat administration at the same time.

If vaccination begins in the second year of life, 2 doses are indicated with an interval of 60 days, if the vaccination is done from 2 to 5 years - once. Compatible with other vaccines, except BCG. If the child has received Previnar-7, it can be continued with Previnar-13.

Indications

First of all, vaccination is necessary for patients with chronic pathology of the lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, diabetes, cancer patients, HIV-infected patients preparing for transplantation, those who have received immunosuppressive therapy, those infected with tuberculosis, as well as those over 65 years of age, all children from 2 months, as well as those entering preschool institutions.

Contraindications

Severe allergic reactions are possible. The drug should not be administered if:

  • the person is highly sensitive to diphtheria toxin or excipients used in the vaccine;
  • there were severe reactions to a previous administration;
  • there are acute and chronic diseases (until recovery or stable remission);
  • there are individual medical exemptions in children (convulsions, etc.)

Complications

Infrequent sleep disturbances, irritability, loss of appetite, low temperature, and pain at the injection site may be observed.
