General information

The process

The result is achieved by using a special layer between the parts of the joint, which prevents the formation of an inseparable connection.

Arthroeresis is the restriction of a certain mobility in the joint by introducing various auxiliary elements. For example, to treat flat feet, a special screw is inserted that prevents the development of pathology.

Osteosynthesis is the fastening of bone fragments using plates, pins and other similar connecting elements.

Osteotomy is used when it is necessary to correct the axis of a bone that is not running correctly. The bone tissue is cut, its correct position is established, and then fixed, usually by osteosynthesis to speed up the recovery process. In case of hallux valgus, the methods of chevron and SCARF osteotomy are used.

Tenotomy is an invasive correction technique performed on tendons, when the correct shape of the supporting parts of the body depends on these connective tissue formations.

Resection is the cutting out of the interfering part of the natural formation. It is often used, for example, in case of an ingrown nail on the big toe.

Endoprosthetics is the replacement of the damaged joint with an artificial one. This procedure allows you to restore lost functions and eliminate pain. Most often, such replacements are carried out on the ankles.

Indications

Indications for surgical interventions are complex cases of foot deformities that cannot be corrected by conservative methods, various injuries and complications after previous diseases:

• displaced fractures;
• incorrectly fused bones;
• false joints;
• osteoarthrosis;
• valgus deformities;
• severe injuries;
• complete absence, limitation or pain in movement, etc.

Contraindications

Contraindications for referral to the operating room are:

• the presence of an inflammatory process;
• the presence of an infectious disease, for example, tuberculosis;
• younger childhood, since there is a risk of affecting growing areas;
• old age - for those manipulations after which the operated area must be developed by the patient himself.
