General information

The technique belongs to restorative medicine. The effectiveness of this type of therapy is explained by the warming, mechanical action of mud and the value of its chemical composition. Peloids contain crystalline, water-insoluble, mineral salts, ions, gases, potassium, magnesium, bromine, phosphorus, silver, clay and sand elements, salts of fatty and organic acids, biologically active substances, amino acids, humic complex, and microelements. As a result of the chemical reaction of the components, hydrogen sulfide is formed, which is able to penetrate the skin.

This type of treatment is applied both locally and to the entire surface of the body. It can be performed as:

  • mud baths;
  • application method (local applications or treatment of the whole body);
  • combined effect of therapeutic mud and a certain strength of electric current.

The full course is focused on 4-10 sessions.

Procedure

The specialist cleanses and peels the skin.

Peloid therapy

The active substance is applied to the prepared areas, brought to a temperature of 42-48 degrees, which is maintained throughout the procedure. An insulating layer is formed on the skin.

Sessions last about 20-30 minutes. After the time has elapsed, the patient rests for 20-30 minutes.

Rehabilitation period

After the end, the patient is given the opportunity to take a shower, oily nourishing compositions are applied. Improvement in general well-being is noted after the first session. Sleep becomes stronger.

After 4-5 sessions, the condition of the spine and joints improves significantly. All processes of body recovery are activated.

Indications

Indications for therapy are diseases:

  • nervous system (radiculitis, neuritis, spinal cord injury, CNS diseases, plexitis);
  • respiratory organs (chronic bronchitis, chest adhesions);
  • musculoskeletal system (polyarthritis, arthritis, spondyloarthritis, ostitis, periostitis, myositis, osteomyelitis, etc.);
  • digestive organs (gastric ulcer, chronic colitis, hepatitis, cholecystitis, pericholecystitis);
  • vessels and skin.

Contraindications

Peloidotherapy is not recommended for use in the following conditions:

  • individual intolerance to components;
  • oncological diseases;
  • inflammation;
  • acute polyarthritis;
  • bleeding and tendency to it;
  • pregnancy;
  • tuberculosis;
  • cardiovascular pathologies;
  • endocrine disorders;
  • blood diseases;
  • nephritis;
  • thyrotoxicosis.

Complications

Periodically in patients after mud baths may cause a rise in temperature, weakness. As a rule, the consequences arise in case of ignoring the recommendations regarding contraindications.
