Mud therapy. Prices, reviews, ratings
General information
Therapeutic mud or peloid consists of water, mineral and organic components. In nature, they exist as sediments in reservoirs, peat deposits in swamps, as part of volcanic eruptions and other geologically young and modern natural formations.
Therapeutic muds have a plastic consistency, a homogeneous and ointment-like structure, which, when heated, allows them to be used for local applications and baths.
The excellent therapeutic properties of peloids are explained by their unique composition: colloidal particles, organic substances, minerals and biogenic components (iron, sulfur, nitrogen, carbon, etc.).
The mud therapy procedure is carried out using muds of different composition and place of origin:
- Sulfide silt, saturated with mineral components, is a black pasty composition that is mined in salt water bodies. In turn, it is classified into continental, marine and coastal, lake-spring.
- Peat, which contains an extremely large number of organic components, has a dark brown color. Its deposits are concentrated in marshy places.
- Silt sapropels are rich in various microelements, for example, bromine, iodine, cobalt. It can be blue, brown, light blue, olive, pink. A universal remedy for the treatment of most pathologies.
- Volcanic mud is the result of volcanic activity. Their composition is saturated with chemical elements.
Peloid therapy has an analgesic, tonic, anti-inflammatory and resorption therapeutic effect.
Mud therapy is carried out in two ways: in the form of applications and baths.
High efficiency of therapy is due to the triple effect on the body: mechanical, chemical and thermal.
Procedure
Preparation
A consultation with a therapist is required before mud therapy. Baths are prepared by diluting mud with concentrated mineral water or brine.
Mud therapy
For therapeutic purposes, general and local use is practiced: mud mashes (diluted baths) and applications. Treatment with baths consists of immersing the patient in a prepared liquid for 30-40 minutes.
To perform the application, a warm blanket, oilcloth and sheet made of coarse material are laid out on the couch. A layer of mud, 5-8 cm thick, of the required temperature is distributed along the entire perimeter. The patient lies down in the center, another layer of peloid is applied on top and wrapped for 15-20 minutes. At the end, the patient washes off the mixture with warm water and lies in the rest room for another 30-40 minutes.
The head and chest are not covered with mud, and a bag of ice is placed on the forehead.
Local application or compress involves applying a layer of peloid to one or more areas of the body.
Rehabilitation period
After the session, it is necessary to rest for 30-40 minutes in a lying position.
