General information

The technique is used for the purpose of prevention, treatment, rehabilitation after injuries and illnesses. A therapeutic shower can be:

  • local and general action;
  • low, medium and high pressure;
  • by the principle of action - constant and variable.
A shower can refresh, increase or decrease muscle tone, have a sedative effect.

Today, the following types of water therapy are practiced in physiotherapy:

  • Charcot or jet - shock type. It is used to relieve muscle tension, improve blood flow and lymph flow, accelerate metabolic processes, for body shaping and cellulite treatment. Depending on the temperature, it has a sedative or stimulating effect on nerve endings.
  • Circulation is prescribed for dysfunction of the central nervous system, hypertension, obesity, cellulite. After the course, fats are broken down, waste and toxins are removed, the skin becomes turgid, and blood flow accelerates.
  • Rain is performed at the end of the circulation to improve blood supply to the scalp.
  • Scottish or contrast is an alternating effect of hot and cold streams. It has high tonic and restorative properties.
  • Ascending is prescribed for pathologies of the perineum, anal sphincter, intestines, and genitals.
  • Underwater shower massage has a double effect - thermal and mechanical. It accelerates the outflow of lymph, blood flow, and relieves inflammation. It has a profound effect on tissues and internal organs, relaxes and tones.

Procedure

Preparation

The patient must undress, leaving underwear on (a swimsuit, swimming trunks) and go to the procedure room.

Therapeutic shower

Therapeutic shower is performed standing, sitting and lying down. It can be fully or partially automated. Charcot and Scotch are done from a distance of 3-4 meters from the shower chair. The doctor treats areas of the body with a directed stream, the temperature, pressure and size of which are prescribed in the prescription. With circulation and rain, fluid is supplied through a mesh in the form of tubes of different shapes with holes of different diameters. For an ascending shower, the patient sits in a specially equipped chair, under the seat of which there are nozzles that supply jets of water upward. Underwater shower massage involves immersion in a bath of water that constantly circulates and has a massage effect.

It is necessary to undergo a course of 12-18 sessions, repeated daily or every other day.

Rehabilitation period

After completion, the client is dried off and dressed. In some cases, massage is performed, ointments and gels are used.

Indications

Indications for therapy are:

  • dysfunction of internal organs;
  • past injuries, fractures, diseases;
  • pathologies of the peripheral and central nervous system;
  • pathologies of an endocrine nature: obesity, hypothyroidism, diabetes;
  • body shaping.

Contraindications

The technique is not used during pregnancy, during menstruation, in case of exacerbation of chronic diseases, general malaise, violation of the integrity of the skin cover.

Complications

As a result of the session, an increase in blood pressure, tachycardia, dizziness, mild nausea, hematomas are possible.
