General information

The technique is one of the areas of thalassotherapy, an element of hydrotherapy. It is performed in the form of exposure of the body to biologically active substances for the purpose of general health improvement. Therapy can be carried out in the form of masks, applications, wraps and baths.

Algae (mainly red and brown) contain complexes of healing microelements, iodine, iron, phosphorus, sulfur, zinc, potassium, calcium, magnesium. They enrich the body with vitamins A, C, D, E and B, amino acids and release histamines.

Algotherapy has an analgesic, calming, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic effect on the body, removes toxins, moisturizes the skin, reduces the risk of blood clots, improves the functioning of the sebaceous glands.

The most commonly used types of algae are:

  • fucus;
  • laminaria (seaweed);
  • lithothamnion;
  • spirulina;
  • varieties of diatomaceous sea clay.
