The AT-TG blood test is used to diagnose autoimmune thyroiditis. Many other antibodies can attach to thyroglobulin. The result of this attack is disruption of the thyroid gland. In most cases, this may be a decrease in function, and in others, on the contrary, hyperactivity of the thyroid gland.

Indications

  • toxic diffuse goiter;
  • dense swelling of the shins.

Reference values range from 0 to 18 U/ml.

Elevated level:

  • Hashimoto's disease;
  • idiopathic hypothyroidism;
  • Graves' disease;
  • Down syndrome.

Elevated levels are also observed in other autoimmune diseases, especially in malignant anemia.
