General information

As is known, there are biologically active points (BAP) on the human body, each of which is associated with a particular organ. The doctor indirectly acts on the diseased organ through these points by cauterization, causing heat in the energy channels.

Classification

There are several types of moxa, each of which is used for its own purpose:

1. Cigar - it is made of rice paper and dry leaves of mugwort. It is used to directly affect the BAP.
2. Box - a wooden box with a grid and grass under it. It is used to treat larger parts of the body (for example, the abdomen, back).
3. Needle - small pieces of moxa are put on special acupuncture needles and set on fire. It works like a cigarette, but much more powerful.
4. Cones - a very strong remedy with a warming effect. A material is placed on a point of the body: coarse salt, garlic, ginger, a sticker, a special ointment. A cone is placed on top and set on fire. Once the desired result is achieved, it is immediately removed. In addition to physical disorders, mental disorders are also treated this way.
5. A pea is used in the same way as a cone, but this is a more gentle method that activates acupuncture points.
6. A warming tiger is a metal device in the form of a ballpoint pen, where instead of a rod there is a moxa cigar. It is intended for delicate parts of the body (face), scar areas, and also for children.

Procedure

Preparation

Moxa therapy is performed by a reflexologist, physiotherapist or rehabilitation specialist. The procedure itself is not complicated. However, this requires a lot of knowledge. Since there are hundreds of acupuncture points on our body, you need to know their exact location and correspondence to the organs.

Conducting the procedure

The sequence of actions when using a cigar is as follows:

• establish an accurate diagnosis and contraindications;
• find the right place on the body;
• light the cigar over a candle flame;
• the patient takes a comfortable, relaxed position. At 2-3 centimeters from the BAP, it is necessary to move the device from side to side, "iron", from 5 to 7 minutes;
• then make "pecking" movements: bring it very close to the place of action (2-3 mm) and just as quickly move it away. And so several times.

The duration of treatment is from 5 to 10 days, depending on the type and severity of the disease.

Moxa does not burn or damage the skin, so the patient should experience only pleasant sensations!
