Ear auricle restoration. Prices, reviews, ratings
General information
Auricle restoration is a complex procedure that is performed under general anesthesia. On average, the operation lasts from 1 to 2 hours. It depends on the choice of reconstruction work.
There are the following types of auricle correction:
- aesthetic otoplasty - in case of elimination of small defects;
- reconstructive otoplasty - full or partial restoration of the auricle or earlobe after congenital or acquired defects.
Procedure
Preparation
Before the procedure, the doctor studies the medical history and examines the condition of the auricle. The doctor discusses the identified problem areas and places, as well as proposals for their elimination with the patient. The latter is required to take a blood test and ECG. The doctor identifies problem areas and makes suggestions for their elimination.
The patient must not drink alcohol, take medications, or smoke for 2 weeks before the surgery.
Auricle Reconstruction Procedure
Ear reconstruction generally takes place in two stages. In aesthetic and complete reconstruction, a small incision is made and defects are eliminated. The patient's own tissue or synthetic materials can be used as materials. The first stage involves removing the auricle shape according to a template, after which cartilage tissue is collected from the patient's body. If the patient prefers to use synthetic materials or there are contraindications to using their own cartilage tissue, the auricle frame is made of artificial materials. At the second stage, the doctor performs the required manipulations to restore the auricle or its individual parts. In this case, excess tissue is removed. Upon completion, cosmetic sutures are applied. Usually, the incision is hidden in the back of the ear, in a fold of skin. With sufficient qualification of the doctor, there are practically no scars.
Rehabilitation period
After the intervention, the patient may experience slight swelling and pain. As prescribed by the doctor, you can take painkillers or anti-inflammatory drugs for a speedy recovery. It is forbidden to drink alcohol, smoke, wear heavy earrings and other jewelry on the ears. It is mandatory to wear a compression and fixing bandage. This will prevent swelling and fix the new position of the ears. In general, the sutures are removed 10 days after the procedure.
