Laser otoplasty. Prices, reviews, ratings
General information
Many people are unhappy with the shape of their own ears, in particular, how much they stick out. This explains the fact that otoplasty is such a popular plastic surgery. Thanks to laser otoplasty, it has become possible to quite effectively correct the shape of the ears. This procedure is suitable both for aesthetic purposes and for correcting a congenital defect or post-traumatic consequences.
Laser otoplasty differs from conventional otoplasty in that a laser scalpel is used during the procedure, which has a number of advantages, in particular:
- the laser tightens blood vessels almost instantly, minimizing the risk of blood loss during surgery;
- this method involves thermal exposure, so the risk of infection is minimal. Laser otoplasty is a more convenient and technologically advanced procedure compared to the classic analogue, but it requires high professional skills from the plastic surgeon and good technical equipment of the office.
Procedure
Preparation
The patient must undergo a consultation with the surgeon to clarify all the details of the operation, including the choice of anesthesia and the desired result. It is also necessary to undergo a number of tests, for example, a blood test for certain infections and diseases, such as HIV, hepatitis B and C.
The list of diagnostic procedures is prescribed individually by the doctor who will perform laser otoplasty.
Laser otoplasty procedure
Laser otoplasty allows you to correct the angle of the auricle to the patient's head. The surgeon makes an incision on the back of the ear, then affects the cartilage and blood vessels. The procedure itself lasts no more than half an hour. This intervention is considered relatively simple, although it requires high skill and extensive experience from the surgeon.
Rehabilitation period
The recovery period after laser otoplasty is relatively short. Serious loads should not be allowed for about two to three weeks. The elastic bandage is removed in less than a week. Bruising is minimal. The scars are barely noticeable, as they are located in natural folds.
Indications
The main indication for laser otoplasty is the patient's desire to correct the shape of the auricles.
Contraindications
The main contraindications for laser otoplasty are the presence of infectious and acute somatic diseases in the patient.
Complications
Complications common to surgical intervention, namely infections and hematomas, occur extremely rarely due to the gentle and careful effect of the laser scalpel on the patient's body.
However, with laser otoplasty, there remains a risk of an unsatisfactory result of the operation, for example, the occurrence of asymmetry of the auricles. In this case, the laser is often used to correct undesirable consequences that arose as a result of previous ear surgeries.
Prices and clinics
Laser otoplasty requires from the plastic surgeon both experience in working with a laser scalpel and good technical equipment of his workplace. Therefore, not every clinic provides this service. The cost of the operation depends on the place where it is performed.
