Amplipulse therapy (SMT therapy) is a special procedure related to physiotherapeutic treatment methods. Its essence lies in the effect of sinusoidal currents of minimal power on the body using the device of the same name. At the initial stage of development of osteochondrosis, intervertebral hernias, scoliosis and other pathologies of the spinal column, this manipulation has the maximum effect. In the case of more advanced stages of such diseases, amplipulse is prescribed in combination with other methods of treatment.

Amplipulse therapy

The effect of low-frequency currents on tissues has a positive effect on their regeneration - this fact has been known for a long time. Amplipulse therapy has been successfully used for many decades and shows positive results. The procedure, if all doctor's instructions are followed, has the following effect:

  • Eliminates muscle spasms;
  • Locally increases blood circulation;
  • Provides a lymphatic drainage effect;
  • Relieves swelling;
  • Reduces pain;
  • Provides a sedative effect, improving the quality of sleep.

Amplipulse therapy: indications

The range of use of the Amplipulse device is quite wide. Each individual disease requires the use of a specific current supply algorithm, which is calculated by the doctor.

The initial indications include:

  • Osteochondrosis of all types and localizations;
  • Arthritis, arthrosis, including rheumatoid;
  • Sciatica (especially during exacerbation);
  • Periarthritis;
  • Intervertebral hernias of all types;
  • Back muscle spasms;
  • Various pathologies associated with curvature of the spine;
  • Compression of nerve roots;
  • Impaired lymph drainage;
  • Any pathologies associated with deformation joints;
  • Atherosclerosis;
  • Disorders of the musculoskeletal system after injuries and illnesses.

Amplipulse therapy: contraindications

As a rule, there are no special contraindications to the procedure. It is successfully used in the treatment of adults and children. But there are still a number of factors that may prevent the doctor from prescribing a large course of procedures:

  • Infectious diseases in the active stage;
  • Thrombosis of the lower extremities;
  • Blood diseases;
  • Severe forms of cardiovascular pathologies;
  • Skin diseases, especially vasculitis, pustules, etc.;
  • Malignant tumors in any organs;
  • High or unstable blood pressure;
  • Varicose veins;
  • Pacemaker.

Pregnancy at any stage can also be considered a contraindication.

Conducting amplipulse therapy

The procedure is absolutely simple, requiring minimal effort from the patient. The position of the body and posture are determined by the type of disease being treated. As a rule, amplipulse therapy is performed sitting or lying down (if the patient has urolithiasis, then standing).

First of all, the patient must take off his clothes to provide access to the affected part of the body. Then electrodes are applied and fixed to the surface of the skin, with the help of which the current will be applied. The device is turned on, adjusting and setting the minimum power. During the procedure, the intensity of the current is increased until the patient begins to feel a slight tingling in the affected area.

As a rule, the total duration of the session is about 20 minutes. The standard course is 10-15 procedures.

Amplipulse therapy does not require the patient to be hospitalized - preparation for the procedure can be done independently at home. There are a number of rules that are recommended to be followed before conducting SMT:

  • A day before the session, it is better to stop taking all medications, except for those that are vital for the patient.
  • During the treatment, it is necessary to limit foods that cause bloating (flatulence).
  • A few hours before, you need to take a shower and eat a light meal.

Amplipulse therapy in physiotherapy

Even if your doctor prescribes this procedure as an addition to complex treatment, you should not neglect it under any circumstances. The greatest effect of SMT therapy is manifested when all the doctor's recommendations are followed. Regularity is the key to ensuring that you get the expected effect. Literally from the first session, many patients already feel significant relief: sharp pains go away, it becomes easier to move, freedom of movement is felt. Of course, this manipulation should be carried out under the supervision of a doctor or junior medical staff to eliminate the risk of incorrect connection of the device or failure in its operation during the session. Amplipulse therapy can be done in many clinics in St. Petersburg, having received a prescription from a therapist or traumatologist.
