In medicine, there are 2 types of pyospermia: false pyospermia and true.

With true pyospermia, sperm usually has an unpleasant odor and a gray-green color, while with false pyospermia, these symptoms may be absent.

Causes

The causes of pyospermia are the presence of inflammatory processes in the patient's genitourinary system. The presence of advanced stages of orchitis, urethritis and other diseases lead to the fact that products of cellular decay and pathogenic microorganisms enter the sperm, which in turn release toxic toxins.

Most often, pyospermia is accompanied by the following diseases: hemospermia, teratozoospermia and oligospermia.

Symptoms

Signs of this disease are:

  • the occurrence of pain in the pelvic area;
  • general weakness;
  • swelling of the scrotum;
  • painful erection;
  • swelling in the groin;
  • the occurrence of headache;
  • increased temperature;
  • symptoms of intoxication of the body;
  • the occurrence of painful sensations during urination.
However, there is false pyospermia - this is the penetration of pus into the sperm as a result of the process of sperm passage through the seminal and urinary canals.

Diagnostics

If the first symptoms of pyospermia are detected, you should immediately consult a urologist. You can make an appointment with a urologist and find out the cost of treatment in the relevant section of our portal.

Before treatment of pyospermia, the patient must undergo a urological examination, which includes:

  • sperm culture for flora;
  • sperm examination for sensitivity to drugs (antibiotics);
  • ultrasound of the genitourinary system.

Treatment

The main feature of the treatment of pyospermia is that the treatment of this disease depends entirely on the diagnosis.

Today, medicine offers the following methods of treating pyospermia:

  • drug treatment (taking antibiotics, vitamins, immunomodulators and other drugs drugs);
  • ozone therapy (this method is used to normalize the fertile activity of men).

The main goal of treatment is the complete elimination of the inflammatory process and continuation of further symptomatic treatment.

The process of treating pyospermia should be carried out under the supervision of a qualified urologist. It should be noted that an incorrect diagnosis can lead to serious complications.

Prevention

To prevent pyospermia, it is recommended to use protective equipment to prevent the occurrence of the disease due to infection with those infections that are transmitted through sexual contact. Inflammatory diseases should be treated in a timely manner and not neglected. In the presence of chronic diseases (prostatitis), recommendations should be followed to prevent relapses.
