Syphilis is divided into primary, secondary, tertiary, congenital. Each type has an early and late stage. For the first type, the blood test is characterized by a seronegative period at first, and then a seropositive period.

Causes

The risk group is men and women who engage in questionable sexual relations, drug addicts, and medical personnel of venereal dispensaries. Infection occurs through blood transfusions, repeated use of the same syringe by drug addicts, or through everyday contact through someone else's toothbrush or razor, or other personal hygiene items of the infected person. Infection is possible through sperm and breast milk.

Symptoms

The course is accompanied by three pathologies: a typical bubo, local scleradenitis and specific polyadenitis.

The most obvious sign is a hard chancre. It looks like an erosion or ulcerative wound at the site of microbe penetration. It can be localized on the genitals, near or outside them; it has a grayish or red color, clear edges. The discharge from the ulcers is purulent, from the erosions - transparent.

There are also atypical forms. On the seventh day, regional scleradenitis usually appears (the inguinal lymph nodes increase in size, but do not hurt). If left untreated, the lymph nodes become inflamed.

Diagnostics

If symptoms occur, you should immediately make an appointment with a dermatovenereologist, who will make a diagnosis based on the anamnesis and clinical picture. A laboratory serological study of the exudate is indicated.

Treatment

After the diagnosis is clarified, the patient is hospitalized. The patient can receive qualified medical care in the inpatient setting of the dermatovenereology dispensary.

Venereologists successfully use treatment regimens developed on the basis of benzylpenicillins. In case of individual intolerance to these drugs, other antibiotics are used.

The main thing is to quickly and reliably get rid of pale treponema and its destructive effect on the human body.

Prevention

Condoms and special pharmacological agents should be used. Always use individual toothbrushes, razors, and other personal hygiene items, and keep them clean. Avoid contact with drug addicts and people with chaotic sexual relationships. Do not use shared glasses in public places. At the first alarming signs, immediately contact a gynecologist or venereologist.
