Macromastia most often develops after 30 years. This disease is characterized by an increase in the volume and length of the breast. Because of this problem, women experience discomfort, are forced to limit themselves in everyday activities, the intimate sphere and in the choice of clothing.
Causes
The main causes of macromastia are pregnancy, hormonal imbalance, puberty, weight loss in a short period of time, as well as metabolic disorders. In addition, this disease can be caused by improperly selected underwear (either too tightly squeezing the breasts, or too loose). Unhealthy diet, fatty foods, these are correctable factors compared to hyperplasia or cancer, which, unfortunately, also lead to macromastia.
Symptoms of macromastia:
- back pain;
- scoliosis;
- discomfort in the shoulders and spine.
With breast enlargement, there is initially a feeling of discomfort, an unpleasant odor due to the activation of the sebaceous glands, irritation in the folds under the breast may be observed.
At the first signs of macromastia, you should immediately consult a specialist to prevent the development of breast cancer.
Diagnostics
Diagnostics of the disease should be carried out by a mammologist, gynecologist, surgeon, or oncologist. To determine the problem, it is necessary to undergo an examination by a qualified specialist. Diagnostic methods include a general blood test, a blood sugar test, as well as a urine test and a coprogram. If there is a suspicion of oncology, an MRI, ultrasound examination and X-ray of the mammary glands are performed.
Treatment
First of all, the patient is hospitalized in the oncology department. If the blood and urine test results are normal, treatment is prescribed, the purpose of which is to reduce the size of the breast. The most effective method remains surgical intervention - mammoplasty. Before treatment, the patient is informed about possible complications.
Prevention
The preventive period after surgery is quite long. The main thing is to follow the specialist's recommendations. For 4 months, the patient will have to wear compression underwear, visit the doctor monthly. It is very important to eat healthy food, walk in the fresh air. It is also necessary to reduce physical activity to a minimum and protect yourself from hypothermia and overheating.
