  • Don Juan syndrome - promiscuity in sexual relations, a quick break in relations with new partners.

Causes

The exact reasons for the development of an inferiority complex in a person have not yet been established.

However, doctors are inclined to believe that this is due to the following factors:

  • low social status;
  • unfavorable family environment, especially during childhood;
  • constant failures in personal life and career;
  • the presence of physical disabilities;
  • constant criticism from others;
  • lack of self-confidence and self-confidence;
  • excessive parental care;
  • poor academic performance;
  • addiction to alcohol.

Symptoms of an inferiority complex

A person suffering from an inferiority complex may be characterized by the following features:

  • fear of contact with people around them, new acquaintances and any interactions in society;
  • sensitivity, excessive vulnerability;
  • constant search for approval of one's own actions from others;
  • frequent conversations about one's own misfortune in order to attract attention;
  • constant psychological tension;
  • arrogance;
  • mistrust of people who give compliments;
  • abuse of alcoholic beverages;
  • speech defects, such as stuttering;
  • adherence to status symbols - expensive things, cars, etc.

Diagnostics

Identifying an inferiority complex is a psychologist's task. The presence of a disorder is established during a conversation with the patient, as well as during special psychological tests.

Treatment of an inferiority complex

Therapy aimed at eliminating the inferiority complex is prescribed by a doctor depending on the individual characteristics of the patient and the causes of the disease. Usually, to get rid of a psychological disorder, it is necessary to:

  • regularly visit a psychologist;
  • attend psychotherapy sessions;
  • in severe cases, treatment using hypnosis techniques is possible.

Prevention

To avoid an inferiority complex in the future, it is recommended:

  • periodically consult with an experienced psychologist;
  • timely detection and treatment of mental disorders;
  • avoid stress and emotional overstrain.
