Ureteral plastic surgery. Prices, reviews, ratings
General information
In case of serious damage to a certain segment of the ureter, it may be necessary to resort to ureteroplasty. This procedure is usually used in cases where other surgical methods cannot be performed. Most often, intestinal ureteroplasty is performed.
The process of performing the operation
Preparation
The process of preparing for the operation consists of the following:
- a thorough diagnosis of the patient for urinary tract infections;
- a blood test for coagulation;
- an examination for allergies to certain drugs;
- a bacteriological examination.
The process of performing ureteroplasty
The operation begins with checking the patient's reaction to anesthesia. The anesthesiologist will examine the patient and determine how much anesthesia he needs. The operation is performed under general anesthesia.
First of all, a special catheter is installed to drain urine, since in the first days after the operation it will be impossible to drain urine through the ureter. Then an incision is made in the area of the ureter. Next, the section of the ureter affected by the tumor is resected, which results in two ends of the ureter that need to be connected.
To replace the resected section, it is necessary to make an autograft from the intestine. To do this, a segment of the intestine is resected according to the size of the removed segment of the ureter. A tube is made from it, which is sutured to the ends of the ureter.
After installing the autograft, the incision made at the beginning of the operation is sutured.
Rehabilitation period
The recovery period can last from one to several weeks. It is necessary for the implanted section to take root and function normally. As a rule, when the patient begins to go to the toilet independently (without a catheter), and there is no blood coming out with urine, then he is discharged and he can return home.
Indications
Ureteroplasty may be prescribed in the following cases:
- lesion of the renal pelvis and ureter;
- narrowed section of the ureter subject to resection;
- very extended defects of the ureter;
- tumor on the ureter.
Contraindications
For some patients, the ureteroplasty procedure is contraindicated in the following cases:
- dysfunction kidneys;
- high blood pressure;
- excess weight (over 120 kg), which makes it impossible to perform surgery under general anesthesia;
- blood clotting disorder.
Complications
Ureteral plastic surgery may have the following complications:
- rejection of the autograft (occurs in extremely rare cases);
- damage to nearby organs requiring surgical intervention;
- infection.
