Cervical osteochondrosis is one of the most common diseases in our time. From half to 90% of the entire population of the Earth suffers. Men and women - approximately equally. This is a complex degenerative-destructive lesion of the spine (DDLS), in which the articular and ligamentous apparatus, the vertebral body, and intervertebral discs are involved in the pathological process.

General information

The cervical spine is affected much more often than the thoracic or lumbar spine due to the peculiarities of the anatomical structure. The fact is that it is the most mobile of all the sections of the spinal column. Consequently, it bears the largest share of the load. In addition, the neck is supplied with a rich network of nerve endings and vessels. The situation is further complicated by the fact that this section is anatomically compact.

If the vertebral artery is compressed for a short time, this can lead to ischemia, and then to a stroke, since this artery supplies the brain!

Unfortunately, the disease is "getting younger". If earlier DDPP occurred at 30-35 years, now it occurs at an earlier age.

Causes

A number of factors contribute to the development of cervical osteochondrosis of the spine:

  • low mobility;
  • heredity;
  • excessive prolonged loads on the entire spine;
  • diseases and anomalies of the foot;
  • obesity;
  • age;
  • endocrine disorders;
  • abrupt cessation of training in athletes.

Procedure

Treatment of cervical osteochondrosis of the spine is carried out by a vertebroneurologist. You can also consult a neurologist or therapist. However, the latter specialists can only offer you medication and physiotherapy methods.

What treatment for cervical osteochondrosis can a vertebroneurologist offer you?

  1. All procedures are prescribed only after diagnostics and making the correct diagnosis (examination, tests, ultrasound, MRI, etc.).
  2. Medicines: painkillers, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodics, vitamins.
  3. Local therapy: medicinal ointments, rubs, creams, compresses, lotions, iodine meshes.
  4. Manual therapy. Professional massage, acupuncture, needle therapy, hirudotherapy (use of leeches), etc.
  5. At home, the Kuznetsov applicator, Lyapko applicator, and herbs can be used as directed.
  6. Physiotherapy is effective.
  7. A set of therapeutic exercises under the supervision of a doctor.
  8. Surgical intervention is not excluded in advanced cases.
This is the most effective and efficient way to prevent DDPP!
