Cryoapheresis or cryoprecipitation is the removal of certain proteins from plasma that carry a whole list of pathological compounds on their membranes. When exposed to temperature and chemical factors, they create a favorable environment for the emergence of circulating immune complexes, autoaggressive antibodies, and atherogenic lipoproteins.

General information

Cryoprecipitation also allows you to get rid of such substances as proinflammatory cytokines, cryoglobulins, immunoglobulins, protein C, uric acid, prostaglandin, and triglycerides.

The technology makes it possible to process a large volume of plasma in just one session, without using donor material or other protein plasma-substituting media.

This prevents the occurrence of transmissible infections, immune complications, and makes it possible to leave all the beneficial substances in the body.

Its main advantages include:

  • the ability to reduce blood viscosity;
  • restoration of membrane-protein properties of red blood cells;
  • increased antioxidant activity and blood flow in organs and soft tissues;
  • reduction in blood pressure;
  • reduction in the size of atherosclerotic plaques, consolidation of sensitivity to medications;
  • elimination of exacerbation of allergic and autoimmune diseases.

Procedure

Preparation

First, the patient is sent for a medical examination. The doctor studies his medical history and the advisability of prescribing cryotherapy. A blood test (clinical), biochemical study and coagulogram are prescribed.

Cryoapheresis procedure

First, the required amount of plasma is removed from the client using plasmapheresis. Then it is cooled, centrifuged and purified. After that, it is returned to the body.

Before the initial blood collection, red blood cells are separated. It is extracted in small doses (approximately 15 or 20 ml). Usually only one vein is used. The duration of the session is about 40-45 minutes.

Rehabilitation period

It is necessary to reduce the doses of medications prescribed by the attending physician.

Indications

The technique is indicated for people who:

  • atherosclerosis, autoimmune hepatitis;
  • antiphospholipid syndrome, hemorrhagic vasculitis;
  • ischemic heart disease, urticaria, SLE, rheumatoid arthritis;
  • gout, chronic fatigue;
  • diffuse neurodermatitis;
  • diabetes mellitus, eczema;
  • scleroderma, angina pectoris, periarteritis nodosa;
  • systemic lupus erythematosus.

The methodology is also recommended for obliterating thromboangiitis, microscopic polyangiitis, myasthenia gravis, glomerulonephritis.

Contraindications

Absolute contraindications include:

  • stomach or duodenal ulcer;
  • blood clotting disorder.

Relative contraindications include:

  • traumatic, anaphylactic shock;
  • severe forms of liver disease;
  • anemia;
  • acute hepatitis, diseases of the heart;
  • poorly expressed peripheral venous network.

Complications

In general, cryomethodology is well tolerated. In exceptional cases, the following consequences occur:

  • mild nausea;
  • migraine, development of bleeding (in these situations, anticoagulants are added).

Prices and clinics

Cryoapheresis, the price of which is presented on the portal, is carried out in a clinic or medical center on an outpatient basis. The study is prescribed by a rheumatologist.
