Arthrography. Prices, reviews, ratings
General information
The technique can provide information about small, medium and large joints. It is most often used on the knee, shoulder, wrist and tarsus-metatarsus.
For the experiment, tampons, elastic knee pads (elbow pads), towels, containers for collecting moisture, test tubes, stickers, collodion, shaving accessories are used.
On average, a session lasts about half an hour. At the output, approximately 5-6 images are obtained.
Anesthesia is used in case of carrying out the technique on children, since acupuncture can provoke severe pain.
MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is considered an alternative.
Procedure
Preparation
First, the doctor studies the patient's medical history, finds out his complaints and determines the need for such an examination.
Arthrography is performed strictly on an empty stomach with preliminary hair removal near the area of action. The patient should also take a shower. The skin should be clean and dry.
Additional tests include:
- goniometry (a test that determines functional parameters, such as kinematic values);
- CT, radionuclide studies;
- densitometry, ultrasound;
- clinical and biochemical analysis of blood and urine.
Novocaine solution, which is administered intra-articularly, is ideal as an anesthetic. If pathological contents are detected, they are removed and sent to the laboratory. Only after this is the main manipulation possible.
Arthrography procedure
There are two ways to perform manipulations:
- a contrast agent with an iodine component (positive contrast) or air (negative) is injected into the cavity;
- a mixture of both versions of the contrast agent is implanted.
The puncture is performed under sterile conditions. If there is fluid in the treatment area, it is sucked out. After this, X-ray images are taken.
In many situations, the client experiences a tingling or distension sensation. However, such sensations quickly disappear.
Rehabilitation period
Depending on the results of the decoding, the professional prescribes a course of treatment and prevention.
With the help of this research, it is possible to detect:
- dissecting osteochondrosis, fractures, chondromalacia;
- disturbances in the synovial bag or biceps muscle, rotator muscles;
- adhesive capsulitis;
- tendonitis.

- allergic reactions;
- individual intolerance;
- tendency to bleeding;

It also cannot be performed on pregnant women, nursing mothers and people suffering from arthritis.
Complications
If the rules are not followed, the following may occur:
- infection;
- pain syndrome, swelling;
- persistent crepitus.
Prices and clinics
The methodology is performed by a radiologist or rheumatologist who has undergone the necessary training. It is carried out in an equipped ward in a hospital setting in a clinic or medical center. You can find out the cost of the service on the portal .
