ERCP. Prices, reviews, ratings
General information
ERCP allows to detect diseases of the pancreas and bile ducts at early stages. This procedure can detect changes occurring in the gallbladder area.
This type of examination has a number of advantages over other procedures:
- high level of reliability;
- information content;
- a number of therapeutic interventions that can be performed during this method.
Procedure
Preparation
Before starting such diagnostics, the gastroenterologist sends the patient to the day hospital. Before the direct examination, the patient is given a sedative injection, and local anesthesia is administered to the pharynx.
The procedure should be carried out strictly on an empty stomach and with complete relaxation of the duodenum. If relaxation does not occur, the gastroenterologist prescribes drugs that suppress the motor function of the intestine.
ERCP procedure
After a special device has been inserted into the throat, the doctor carefully passes it through the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. The device must reach the place where the bile duct and pancreatic duct are connected. In this place, the ampulla of the large duodenal papilla is formed, and at its mouth is the lumen of the duodenum.
After the device is at the beginning of this organ, the gastroenterologist performs the following manipulations:
- A special radiopaque substance is injected into the pancreas and bile ducts.
- X-ray equipment allows you to get an image of the duct system.
- If stones are found in the viewing area, an endoscopic operation will be performed immediately, thanks to which patency will be restored and the formations will be destroyed.
ERCP can only be performed in a hospital setting so that a gastroenterologist can monitor the patient's condition.
Rehabilitation period
After ERCP, the patient must be on day hospital for the period specified by the attending physician. Such a conclusion is made on the basis of the general condition of the patient's body and the results obtained after the diagnostics. As a rule, the condition should become stable within 24 hours. Cough drops will help get rid of the unpleasant sensations in the throat area.
