Leading experts classify hyperpyrexia into white and red. White is more common in both adults and children. Red is more common in babies. There are specific types of hyperpyrexia:

  • subfebrile;
  • moderate;
  • high;
  • hyperpyretic;

Each type and type has characteristic symptoms.

Children under 3 months and people with chronic diseases are most at risk of developing hyperthermia.

Causes

In medicine, the causes of this disease are distinguished. Among them:

  • inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (bronchial asthma, bronchitis);
  • strokes;
  • brain injuries;
  • disorders of the central nervous system;
  • inflammatory diseases of the ENT organs (otitis);
  • appendicitis, gastritis, cholecystitis;
  • purulent processes of soft tissues.

With infections, fever occurs as a protective reaction of the body to a pathogenic factor that has entered the body. Doctors also single out a separate cause in adults: a group of physical mechanisms of heat transfer does not work well. Hyperpyrexia can occur against the background of fever or acute respiratory viral infections. Hyperthermic syndrome is characterized by a sharp significant increase in temperature to 40 degrees Celsius and above due to a violation of thermoregulation at the level of the hypothalamus.

Symptoms

The symptoms are very similar to other infections. The main and most pronounced symptoms include:

  • fever (up to 39), dizziness;
  • drowsiness, lethargy;
  • pale complexion or, conversely, very red;
  • increased sweating;
  • rapid heartbeat;
  • convulsions, colic;
  • in some cases, loss of consciousness (more common in children).

Diagnostics

For help with such symptoms, you should contact a therapist, anesthesiologist, or call an ambulance. It is necessary to measure body temperature for an hour to see its stability. After the doctor determines whether it is white or red hyperthermia, therapy should be started immediately.

Untimely treatment can lead to serious consequences, such as memory loss, body convulsions and coma.

Treatment

For an adult, therapy begins with a purely medicinal method. Prescribe drugs for better blood circulation in the body, vitamin complexes, analgin, antipyretic drugs.

They also resort to physical therapy: rubbing with cool lotions, light massage, you can wrap the patient in a sheet half soaked in water and vinegar (40%). To relieve vascular spasm, you can give no-shpa. If necessary, the doctor prescribes dantrolene (2.5 mg/kg orally or intravenously every 6 hours).

Prevention

After eliminating the causes, it is necessary to monitor your health. It is very important to dress for the weather, monitor your diet. It should be rich in protein products. More often spend time in the fresh air, walks in the forest are recommended. Treat infections until the end and try not to fall under the risk of getting the flu.
