The disease progresses rapidly. It only takes a few months for a person to become a social invalid.

Experts distinguish two main forms:

  • Acute, as a rule, develops at the stage of a hangover syndrome or deep binge. The patient is haunted by various hallucinations, begins to make claims and bring up "facts" of betrayal on the side.
  • Chronic occurs in the phase of systemic alcohol intoxication. The disease takes on a more threatening picture, because surveillance, manic behavior, clothing checks, assault begin.

Exacerbations are very common. The disease occurs in men over 40, and the initial stage very quickly gains momentum and leads to serious consequences. The patient ends up in a mental hospital for permanent treatment.

Causes

Research has shown that this disorder is common in stages I-III of alcoholism. The following main causes are identified: psychoorganic syndrome with regular alcohol consumption, dependence on character accentuation (paranoid or epileptoid), decline and complete degradation of personality, frequent psychoses and behavioral disorders, development of pathologies in organs, a tendency to jealousy even before alcohol dependence.

It is quite difficult to name all the factors that contributed to the development of the disease. After all, everyone has their own psyche and attitude to a particular situation.

Symptoms

The manifestations of the disease are very pronounced, and at first may not be taken to heart by family members. Symptoms with regular or episodic manifestation should be the first alarm signal.

Signs of the disease: a person is accompanied by a delusional idea of infidelity, searching and presenting facts, stalking, searching personal belongings, eavesdropping on telephone conversations, a taboo on a certain type of clothing, makeup, the use of perfume, collecting information about spending time from colleagues, acquaintances, relatives, searching for a hidden meaning in every gesture or word, causing bodily harm, isolating in the house, claiming that the children were born from another man, aggression for any reason. If symptoms occur, make an appointment with a psychiatrist and narcologist.

Diagnostics

The patient's examination will directly depend on the psychological state, based on first-hand information.

When making a diagnosis, the anamnesis (data collection) is the most important stage, because a complete and detailed picture will provide answers to many questions and determine the further course of treatment.

For a comprehensive assessment of the condition of the organs, identifying the presence of pathologies, a medical examination of the whole body, as well as laboratory tests, are necessary.

Treatment

Treatment takes place in several stages: vitamin therapy and a complete diet, detoxification, infusion therapy in combination with psychotropic drugs, psychotherapy, administration neuroleptics.

Prevention

First of all, preventive measures are aimed at preventing alcohol addiction in humans. The tendency or predisposition to the disease should be blocked at an early stage.

It is important to provide psychological support, apply social assistance, and drug treatment in a timely manner. All this should take place in specialized institutions and under the supervision of highly qualified personnel.
