There are the following categories of the disease:

- Chronic bacterial prostatitis.
Chronic prostatitis, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, which is divided into:
- Inflammatory;
- Non-inflammatory;
- Asymptomatic prostatitis.
Another category is extremely rare: chronic granulomatous prostatitis.
In advanced prostatitis and the absence of professional treatment, the patient is at risk of infertility, since the prostate gland is unable to produce the required amount of secretion for sperm motility.
Causes
In men under 35 years of age, the disease usually occurs in the form of acute bacterial prostatitis. Bacterial prostatitis is provoked by infection of the prostate gland tissues by microorganisms. Many of the bacteria are components of the normal microflora of the body and are present on the skin, in the intestines, rectum, urethra, blood and lymphatic vessels of the pelvis. But getting into the prostate gland, antigens contribute to the inflammatory process. As a rule, these are E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and others. In the non-bacterial form of the disease, it is impossible to determine the antigens, although this does not indicate their absence. The chronic type of the disease is most often found in older men. The inflammatory process can arise from various reasons:
- Too active intimate life.
- Hypothermia of the pelvic organs.
- Physical injuries.
- Weak immunity of the body.
- Impaired blood and lymph circulation of the genitals.
- Imbalance of hormonal levels.
- Venereal diseases that were acquired during unsafe sexual intercourse (AIDS, syphilis, etc.).
- Infection of the prostate gland.
Symptoms of prostatitis
The symptoms of the disease are divided into three categories:
- Disorders of the urethra. Accompanied by a feeling of incomplete evacuation of the bladder, frequent and painful urge to urinate, pain in the lower abdomen.
- Disorders of the reproductive system. During ejaculation, pain in the urethra and rectum, weak erection, loss of orgasm, etc.
- Excessive anxiety and nervousness.
As a rule, the bacterial form of prostatitis is accompanied by a high temperature with fever and chills. Urination is complicated by swelling of the prostate gland and is accompanied by acute pain.
The chronic form of the disease manifests itself much more calmly or asymptomatically, but an exacerbation can develop very quickly.
Diagnostics
In modern medicine, the diagnosis of prostate diseases is at a high level. The specialist must conduct a bacteriological examination of the patient's urine and prostate secretion. To accurately determine the location of the urethral infection, different portions of urine are examined. The priority diagnostic method is a digital examination of the prostate gland. This process is very effective. The specialist can also give a referral for an ultrasound examination of the pelvic organs, computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging, urography, cystoscopy, and a study of gland enzymes.
Prostatitis Treatment
When diagnosing, the urologist must exclude the presence of benign tumors and prostate cancer. To eliminate pain, analgesics and warm baths are prescribed. In case of bacterial prostatitis, it is imperative to take antibiotics, the selection of which is carried out by the method of bacteriological culture of secretions and an indication for sensitivity to chemotherapy drugs. Non-bacterial prostatitis is treated with anti-inflammatory drugs.
Also, with prostatitis, physiotherapeutic treatment methods must be prescribed, such as electrophoresis, magnetic and laser therapy, pulsed current, inductothermy; prostate massages that help normalize blood circulation; the use of immunostimulating drugs.
Prevention
Prevention of prostatitis consists in not allowing the body to become too cold, maintaining a balanced diet: do not abuse alcohol, excessively spicy and fried foods. A stable sex life is also a prevention of prostatitis. It is necessary to observe the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, which also contribute to the development of the inflammatory process. You need to visit a urologist annually and after an illness has already been suffered, you need to undergo outpatient treatment courses twice a year, as well as undergo spa treatment.
