The most common anomalies:

  • Nodular trichoclasis is a congenital or acquired disease, the peculiarity of which is the formation of microscopic nodules in different parts of the hair.
  • Trichoptilosis is an acquired pathology in which a longitudinal dissection of the hair shaft occurs, a kind of transformation of the hair into a feather. With the disease, the hair splits, has an unhealthy appearance, becomes dry and brittle.

Causes

The main cause of the anomaly is an infectious disease of the mother during pregnancy. Significant damage to the skin appendages can be caused by viral infections such as tuberculosis, syphilis, as well as anemia associated with iron deficiency in the mother's body. In addition, emotional and physical overloads have a negative effect on the formation of hair.

The cause of tricoclasia and trichoptilosis in a child can be regular use of antibiotics or cytostatics by a woman during pregnancy.

Exceeding the norm of drug use threatens the development of dystrophy of the sebaceous glands, the signs of which are brittleness and dryness of the hair.

Symptoms

The nodules that form with tricoclasia are thickenings on the hair. Basically, the pathology is observed on the lower part of the hair shafts and can provoke not only brittleness, but also their delamination.

Outwardly, they are similar to the manifestations of tricoclasia and the symptoms of trichondosis or loop formation. At the first signs of the disease, you should make an appointment with a trichologist.

Diagnostics

Effective diagnostics can only be carried out in laboratory conditions using a microscope or spectral analysis of hair, which determines the presence of microscopic fungi that cause anomalies, and the mineral composition of the hair.

Treatment

Treatment of damage is carried out using special cosmetics - nourishing oils, restorative masks. It is recommended to use cosmetics containing vitamin A, a substance that helps restore and strengthen the hair structure.

To achieve the maximum effect when using medical cosmetics, in some cases, a procedure for epilation of damaged hair, ultraviolet irradiation of the damaged area, cryotherapy, and massage are performed.

Prevention

The main preventive measure is timely hair care - washing, combing. In order to reduce the risk of developing anomalies, it is not recommended to abuse paints, varnishes, gels and other types of cosmetics. Protective measures should be taken - when visiting a solarium, swimming pool, when using irons and straighteners, it is necessary to apply a special cream or use a cap. It is better not to expose hair to prolonged exposure to high temperatures and direct sunlight, especially in the summer. Do not self-medicate, consultation with a trichologist is necessary.
