What is Uric Acid
Uric acid appears after programmed apoptosis or necrosis of cells; a smaller portion enters the body through food (meat, beans, liver, fish) and liquids (beer, wine). Physiologically, the organic substance breaks down in the liver and passes into the urinary system, where 70% is excreted with urine, and 30% enters the gastrointestinal tract and is eliminated with stool. Synonyms include trihydroxypurine, 2,6,8-trioxypurine, and heterocyclic ureide of urea.

How It Is Conducted

For three days prior to the test, a low-purine diet must be followed. Additionally, alcohol consumption and smoking are prohibited, and physical exertion should be avoided.
Normal uric acid levels are 120-450 µmol/L (0.30-0.42 mmol/L) for men and 120-380 µmol/L (0.24-0.36 mmol/L) for women.
