Phototherapy. Prices, reviews, ratings
General information
Ultraviolet light has a number of very specific properties. Many people know that it can have a negative effect. But sunlight also has pronounced healing properties. The effect is achieved by infrared and ultraviolet light. This allows achieving different therapeutic effects, since the infrared part of the spectrum has a deep penetrating effect, while the ultraviolet affects the superficial layers of the human skin. In this case, it is possible to regulate both the intensity of light radiation and the distance to its source. All this allows implementing a therapeutic course of phototherapy in a fairly narrowly specialized direction, for the sake of solving specific problems.
The effect of natural solar radiation is called heliotherapy. It has a complex effect, but it is, naturally, impossible to control.
The skin reacts quite specifically to the effects of sunlight - erythema appears, that is, the redness known to almost everyone.
The speed of erythema depends on which part of the spectrum was used in the process of therapeutic action: from several minutes for infrared radiation, to several hours for ultraviolet.
Procedure
Preparation
Before starting phototherapy, the patient must undergo a series of examinations to exclude possible contraindications, in particular, take blood tests, check the functioning of the endocrine and cardiovascular systems, make sure there are no neoplasms on the skin, for which it is recommended to visit a dermatologist.
Procedure phototherapy
Phototherapy can be performed by a therapist specializing in this method using an artificial light source. Depending on the indications, different lamps are used both in terms of the size and intensity of the supplied light radiation, and in terms of its spectrum.
Taking natural sunbaths allows you to cover the entire range of the light spectrum, so its effect is more complex, although not without the risk of side effects.
A properly performed session is painless and refers to non-invasive treatment methods.
Rehabilitation period
The patient does not need rehabilitation after phototherapy, but he must follow all doctor's instructions related to skin care, as well as strictly follow the instructions in terms of radiation dosage.
