Procedure

Preparation

Preparation for surgery includes a full examination of the patient in order to identify diseases for which this operation is contraindicated. On the eve of the operation, the patient is hospitalized and basic clinical tests are performed.

Laser enucleation process

The operation is performed using epidural anesthesia or under general anesthesia. The operation lasts up to 2 hours.

The operation process is as follows: using a laser, the prostate adenoma is separated from the surrounding prostate tissue, then it is moved into the bladder in several fragments. Then the prostate adenoma is crushed and removed from the bladder using a morcellator (a special instrument). After the operation itself, a catheter is installed to drain the bladder.

Rehabilitation period

After laser enucleation, the following recommendations should be followed:

  • take plenty of fluids (drink plenty of fluids);
  • in case of painful sensations, painkillers are prescribed.

Indications

This operation is indicated for young patients and those patients who have concomitant diseases of the body that are associated with impaired blood clotting.

Contraindications

Laser enucleation of prostate hyperplasia is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • the patient has inflammatory diseases in acute and severe form;
  • surgical intervention also cannot be performed due to the technical impossibility of passing the resectoscope through the urethra into the bladder.
