Treatment of allergic reactions
An inflammatory allergic process in the body can arise due to absolutely different factors. Allergies can be to cats, dogs (in particular, to their fur); to insect bites (mosquitoes, bees, bedbugs, etc.); to pollen, medications, as well as to food (food and drinks) and household allergens (chemicals and dust).
General information
An inflammatory allergic process in the body can arise due to absolutely different factors. Allergies can be to cats, dogs (in particular, to their fur); to insect bites (mosquitoes, bees, bedbugs, etc.); to pollen, medications, as well as to food (food and drinks) and household allergens (chemicals and dust).
AR can be mild or severe. The former, as a rule, are limited to lacrimation, itching with a rash and sneezing. During an exacerbation, difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, and heart failure are often observed, resulting in anaphylactic shock.
Procedure
Because contact with some irritants (especially those that enter through breathing) cannot be avoided, specialists prescribe therapeutic methods that simply block the allergic reaction. This occurs through the use of appropriate medications that reduce the symptoms of the response to the pathogen.
Immunotherapy is also often used. It involves introducing a small amount of an allergen into the body. As the amount of histamine increases, neutralizing (blocking) antibodies are expected to be produced in the body, preventing the occurrence of an irritant reaction. This therapy requires caution, since too rapid an increase in the dosage of allergens can also itself contribute to the development of an allergic reaction.
Frequently used medications in treatment:
- antihistamines;
- corticosteroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
The most important thing in treatment is to limit yourself as much as possible from contact with allergens. If it is an allergy to milk and dairy products, you need to exclude them from your diet. If it is an allergy to wool, you should stop keeping pets. If it is household chemicals, do not use them.
Indications
There are different forms of allergy. They affect the respiratory tract, conjunctiva, skin, mucous membranes, etc. Depending on the type, various symptoms appear on different parts of the body and they can last from a couple of minutes to two or three weeks.
Symptoms:
- watery and reddened eyes;
- itching, rash, burning in places where inflammation is located;
- nasal congestion, difficulty breathing;
- occurrence of concomitant diseases;
- in severe cases: vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions and even loss of consciousness.
Contraindications
Contraindications for treatment include individual intolerance to certain drugs, which lead to the following complications:
- anaphylactic shock;
- increased heart rate (acute vascular insufficiency);
- sticky skin;
- acute eczema;
- stomach cramps;
- dizziness, nausea;
- sometimes even death.
