When a cold air flow affects people who are hypersensitive to it, they experience a release of histamine into the blood. This contributes to the occurrence of a reaction, as with other types of allergic disorders: dilation of blood vessels, changes in blood pressure, the appearance of a rash, itching, redness and swelling of the skin. Often this disease develops after severe illnesses and long-term use of antibiotics.

General information

When a cold air flow affects people who are hypersensitive to it, they experience a release of histamine into the blood. This contributes to the occurrence of a reaction, as with other types of allergic disorders: dilation of blood vessels, changes in blood pressure, the appearance of a rash, itching, redness and swelling of the skin. Often this disease develops after severe illnesses and long-term use of antibiotics.

Causes:

  • genetic predisposition;
  • the presence of parasitic and infectious diseases (giardiasis, tuberculosis, etc.);
  • consumption of very cold foods, including drinks;
  • sudden change in air temperature;
  • contact with cold water (during bathing, washing dishes, etc.).

Factors that provoke a response can also be food, pollen, household irritants.

Other forms of allergy symptoms of this kind in other manifestations: dermatitis, conjunctivitis, urticaria, rhinitis.

Procedure

The doctor prescribes treatment for cold allergy after conducting a series of laboratory and diagnostic tests. One of them is a skin test. It involves applying a piece of ice to the skin and assessing its condition after such a test. Paleness and redness are considered a normal response to the irritant used. Swelling and rash – gone.

Medicines for treatment:

  • antihistamines;
  • glucose steroid ointments (in severe cases).
However, the most important “medicine” for this disease is warmth.

Prevention:

  • avoid low temperatures;
  • dress warmly;
  • in winter, use hygienic lipstick and a special cream with a UV filter;
  • constantly maintain immunity (vitamins, herbal decoctions, etc.);
  • harden yourself;
  • pinch or massage your nose and cheeks at the first manifestations of a runny nose.

  • Stage three. This stage can occur after repeated contact with the pathogen. It manifests itself in the form of edema, rash and even anaphylactic shock.
