Manual therapy

Manual therapy is a method of diagnosis and treatment based solely on the impact of the therapist's hands on the human body. Manual therapy has found its application in the treatment of the musculoskeletal system, and less frequently, internal organs. The points through which the impact on the body occurs are located in the spine, feet, hands and fingers, joints of the limbs.

A specialist who represents this area of medicine is a chiropractor.

Symptoms that require you to see a chiropractor:

• acute or chronic pain (or discomfort) in the spine;
• posture disorder;
• pain or discomfort in the neck when bending, turning the head;
• joint pain;
• headache, migraine;
• dizziness;
• numbness of the limbs, fingers;
• stiffness when breathing;

• deterioration of vision, hearing, memory;

Diagnostics and treatment measures in manual therapy

To make a diagnosis and determine further treatment, a manual therapist uses a number of diagnostic procedures:

• spinal x-ray;
• vascular duplex scanning;
• muscle electromyography;
• computer tomography;
• magnetic resonance imaging.

Manual therapy is used in combination with other procedures, namely: therapeutic and lymphatic massage, acupuncture, acupressure, traction, vacuum therapy, moxibustion, shiatsu, applied kinesiology.
