Signs of the onset of anorexia
A consultation with a gastroenterologist will help to identify the true cause of weight loss. However, recently this disease often appears as a side effect when taking certain medications (for example, hormonal, for weight loss) and as a consequence of a mental disorder.
Causes and signs of anorexia
Initially, anorexia was encountered due to the following reasons:
- malignant neoplasms;
- violation of the usual hormonal background and, as a consequence, metabolism;
- neurological pathologies.
A consultation with a gastroenterologist will help to identify the true cause of weight loss. However, recently this disease often appears as a side effect when taking certain drugs (for example, hormonal, for weight loss) and as a consequence of a mental disorder. Moreover, the latter type is the most common and is found in the vast majority of cases in girls and women.
Beauty is the external embodiment of the body's health. Shiny hair, smooth healthy skin, muscle tone, balanced proportions and healthy distribution of fat tissue - all these signs of health make up a single portrait of a beautiful person. However, under the influence of fashion, changes in public perception, beauty as a concept has also changed. A modern woman sees beauty as compliance with a standard imposed from the outside. Fortunately, the fashion for thin androgynous girls, which was three decades ago, has gone. Now a more proportional appearance is in fashion. A woman is considered beautiful if she has sensual curves of the figure. Actually, the very difference between the waist and hips in the proportion of 0.7 to 1 is already a more natural view of beauty, since such proportions are really laid down by nature.
But, unfortunately, modern society has not yet fully accepted this view, and besides, people in our time are subject to greater psychological stress, which can be provoked by certain disorders. Because of this, not only young girls with a fragile psyche, but also quite adult women, under the influence of imposed beauty standards (which do not take into account either health or individuality), try to remake themselves to fit these standards. Being a prisoner of their own complexes, girls starve themselves. At the same time, one of the signs of anorexia is that the girl does not simply restrain her appetite until she loses a certain amount of weight. Instead, the girl instills in herself the illusion of her own ugliness and tells herself that she is fat. This suggestion, reinforced by stress and low self-esteem, discourages her appetite so much that the girl actually loses the desire to eat. Moreover, this process has no end.

If a healthy craving for beauty allows diets and exercise for moderate weight loss, then only within the norm. A woman who perceives herself adequately understands the clear correspondence between her height and weight, realizing that losing weight excessively means not only putting stress on your body and harming your health, but also harming your beauty. Therefore, a girl who loses weight for the sake of beauty and health has a certain limit, while a girl suffering from anorexia will starve herself endlessly.
With anorexia, a kind of obsessive state arises, which in fact has only a distant connection with the problem of excess weight and beauty.
A girl with anorexia cannot stop starving herself, because the problem is not in the weight, but in an illusory way to respond to her own complexes and fears. But they do not disappear, which makes the girl continue to sincerely believe in her inferiority, and this in turn discourages her appetite.
We can conclude that anorexia is a problem not only for a gastroenterologist, but also for a psychologist or even a psychiatrist. Nevertheless, the consequences of anorexia affect primarily the metabolism and the state of the gastrointestinal tract, whose work is gradually suppressed. With anorexia, the body simply lacks energy, and this has the following effects:
- hair becomes brittle, and the skin loses its attractiveness and elasticity;
- constant feeling of weakness, mild apathy;
- problems with blood circulation;
- impaired functioning of the kidneys and liver;
- problems with the reproductive system;
- hormonal disruptions;
- problems with supplying the brain with the necessary nutrients.
That is, in fact, the girl herself destroys her beauty without realizing it. The idea of losing weight becomes obsessive. Therefore, with a sharp weight loss and lack of appetite for psychological reasons, you should immediately make an appointment with a psychologist or psychotherapist. Timely assistance can save both physical and mental health.
How to prevent the development of the disease
It is much better to prevent the onset of such a disease than to treat this progressive disorder. The onset of anorexia is usually unnoticeable. The girl still looks normal, and her desire to lose weight is not perceived as something painful. However, to prevent this weight loss from turning into anorexia, a number of preventive measures should be followed.
You cannot allow the desire to lose weight to become obsessive and begin to associate with the concept of beauty. To do this, a woman should focus on the proportions and tone of muscle tissue. At the same time, she needs to set a specific goal in terms of losing weight in advance and, having achieved it, stop, switching her attention to something else.
A hobby or active recreation will help any girl to distract herself from problems and obsessive ideas. But even more important is the environment. Anorexia is a disease of people who are lonely inside. They are so insecure that they feel inferior even in the company of those who love them. Sincere care from loved ones should convince a woman of her own beauty. Spending time together, healthy sex and a deep emotional connection with a partner, support from friends and family - all this draws the woman's attention to itself, and therefore this disorder gradually recedes. A strong motivator for overcoming the initial form of anorexia is also the maternal instinct.
