This is a completely natural craving for beauty, for staying young as long as possible not only internally but also externally, is reflected in the abundance of developing cosmetic procedures. And one of the most popular of them is peeling. The skin, as you know, is the main indicator of age. This cosmetic procedure is a direct effect on the skin.
The essence of the peeling procedure is to remove the upper already dead layer of skin, remove those scales that have already become keratinized, thus revealing deeper young layers. The skin, although it seems to us quite thin, is a fairly diverse system, multi-layered and important from a functional point of view.
In fact, the skin is the largest organ of the body. Its main task is to protect organs from the harmful effects of the external environment, filtering substances entering the body. In addition, the skin takes part in thermoregulation and metabolism. Through receptors located on the skin, we receive information about the outside world through touch. If the skeleton is the internal basis, the frame of the body, then the skin is the outer shell, which also supports the shape of the body. Its structure, elasticity and health in general determine the condition of the entire body and indicate the age of a person. Peeling is a procedure that is designed to rejuvenate the skin, but not through artificial implants, but by revealing its potential, that is, exposing new cells that are constantly forming.
Peeling has been known for thousands of years. With the help of wine, the skin was cleaned in medieval Europe, although it is known that this procedure was practiced by various methods by the ancient Egyptians.
Peeling in a beauty salon: features, advantages and risks
Depending on the method of technology used to exfoliate the upper layer of the skin, peeling can be:
- chemical;
- laser;
- mechanical;
- biological.
Mechanical peeling is carried out with special creams, which, due to the substances contained in their base, exfoliate the upper layer of the skin. Therefore, the mechanical type is used both for peeling at home and for this procedure in special clinics and salons. For chemical peeling, solutions are used, which include different acids. There are weakly concentrated solutions that can be used at home, but more serious preparations are used only by experienced dermatologists and cosmetologists.
Now specialized cosmetology centers have begun to open everywhere, which provide the widest range of services that allow you to rejuvenate your skin. Peeling is one of the most popular ways to give your skin a younger and healthier appearance, so this procedure is practiced by almost all such clinics and centers. However, peeling is also an intervention in natural biological processes, and therefore its use is associated with risks. First of all, you should find a cosmetology center that inspires confidence in both the quality of the equipment and the qualifications of the staff working there. In addition, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist to find out if there are any contraindications to this procedure, whether it will be harmful to the skin and whether it will provoke certain complications.
Depending on the depth of the penetrating action, peeling can be:
- superficial, affecting only the epidermis;
- medium, passing through the entire epidermis and reaching the capillary dermis;
- deep, reaching the reticular dermis.
Accordingly, the stronger the effect, the greater the risk and contraindications.
Peeling at home is feasible
Although the process of removing the keratinized upper layers of the skin should be treated with extreme caution, with the proper level of responsibility this procedure is also carried out at home. Thus, low-concentration solutions and special peeling creams are sold freely. However, before using a particular drug, you should make an appointment with a dermatologist to find out for sure whether it is worth using this particular brand of cosmetic products. Their recipes are quite different and, sometimes, without the knowledge of a specialist, it is difficult to choose the most effective, but not harmful type of active substances for peeling. In addition, acne, infectious lesions and fungal diseases of the skin are contraindications for this cosmetic procedure. The doctor must not only make sure that there are no pronounced symptoms of these diseases, but also conduct a number of studies (blood test, smear).
There are also general rules for carrying out this procedure at home. In particular, you cannot do peeling more than twice a week, but it is better to limit yourself to one, to give the skin time to regenerate the upper layers. Special creams are applied only to damp skin. You cannot peel especially delicate areas of the skin, for example, around the lips. In addition, this procedure should not be carried out in the wrong season. All weather and climate conditions affect the skin, therefore, peeling should not be carried out during periods of greatest sun activity.
