Chickenpox is an infection that is considered "mandatory" in childhood. It is transmitted by airborne droplets and in 99% of cases, a person who comes into contact with a sick person also gets sick.

Symptoms of chickenpox do not appear immediately! A baby can come into contact with an infected child without showing signs of infection. The worst thing is when chickenpox passes to an adult or a pregnant woman, since there is a risk of complications in the internal organs or fetus!

The disease manifests itself two to three days after a person is infected, with typical symptoms for any viral infection: fever, headache, aching joints. An itchy rash appears later. You can't scratch the blisters, so as not to introduce additional infection into them. After the chickenpox blisters heal, scars on the skin are possible.

There is no medicine aimed directly at treating chickenpox. Each symptom is eliminated separately, after consultation with a pediatrician or infectious disease specialist.

Monitor your body temperature

When the temperature rises, this means that the immune system is fighting against pathological bacteria and viruses. Pharmaceutical antipyretics block this natural process.

Therefore, if the temperature has not risen to 40 degrees, there is no agony and delirium, it is better to bring down the fever with a large amount of hot liquid (not boiling water) with the addition of freshly squeezed lemon juice with honey or raspberries. Constant drinking will prevent dehydration and help the immune system.

When the body temperature is too high and does not drop within two days after taking antipyretics, the person must be placed in an infectious diseases hospital.

Relieving itchy skin

To help the sufferer, ask the doctor about the list of antihistamines. They are used both in tablet form and in the form of ointments locally.

Baths with potassium permanganate will be appropriate, but the body after washing is not rubbed, but lightly blotted with a towel.

To heal the blisters, they are treated with ordinary brilliant green.

In addition, to alleviate the patient's condition and reduce the number of itching triggers, he should follow a diet, excluding spicy, fatty, fried, smoked, sweet and spices.

Calming the nervous system

In order to relieve psychological stress, consult a doctor about sedatives. This is especially true for children and allergy sufferers. Common mild relaxants include valerian root, motherwort tincture, chamomile and mint tea.

Distraction games, watching comedy films, cartoons, listening to pleasant or cheerful music are also effective.

Preventing infection of others

If someone in the infected person’s environment has not had chickenpox, and also has a weakened immune system, they try to protect him from infection from both sides:

  • The patient is prescribed rest, bed linen and underwear are changed daily, a set of dishes is allocated
  • Everyone puts on a gauze bandage
  • To improve immunity, healthy family members take immunomodulators and antiviral drugs according to the scheme prescribed by the doctor infectious disease specialist.

When all symptoms have been eliminated and the 21-day incubation period has passed, we can talk about recovery.
