The book "The China Study" is not just an opus, it is the result of many years of observations and scientific research devoted to the influence of the diet of different people on their health.

The authors of this book are two people - American biochemist and professor Colin Campbell, as well as his son, doctor Thomas Campbell.

It is worth noting that Colin Campbell is an honored and world-famous specialist in the field of nutritional biochemistry, who has devoted decades to studying the relationship between human nutrition and the most common serious diseases: oncology, cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune dysfunctions.

How true are traditional ideas about proper nutrition?

Colin Campbell comes from a family of farmers, so from childhood he learned the elementary "truth" - there is nothing healthier than fresh milk and fresh meat. The first "alarm bell" sounded when Colin's father, in the prime of his life, suddenly suffered a myocardial infarction. How could such a misfortune befall a strong man who lived in the fresh air, led an active lifestyle and followed generally accepted rules of healthy eating?

At the beginning of his scientific career, Colin Campbell still believed that proper nutrition should contain mainly animal protein obtained from milk and meat. The second time the doctor became wary during a study conducted by a group of scientists in the Philippines. The scientists were busy looking for a reasonable explanation for the widespread incidence of liver cancer among children.

Note: if your belly has suddenly enlarged, and this is accompanied by weakness, vomiting, stomach upset, and a constant low-grade fever, you need to make an appointment with an oncologist and get your body diagnosed. Cancer is treatable in the early stages!

First of all, a hypothesis arose that the bodies of sick children became vulnerable due to a protein deficiency in their diet. However, after a thorough study of the problem, scientists were able to discover that the causative agent of cancer is aflatoxin, a carcinogen secreted by mold growing in nuts and grains. Moreover, scientists found that the development of cancer and the mortality rate are significantly higher among children of wealthy families in which they received a balanced diet containing enough milk and meat.

After the story of this case, the author of the book "The China Study" describes the interesting conclusions of scientists from India. An experiment was conducted on two groups of rats, during which some received aflatoxin and a 5-percent protein diet, and others - exclusively 20-percent protein diet. Ultimately, the first group of rats lived for a long time, while the other died of liver cancer after a short time. When the results of this study were published, it caused indignation, criticism and denial in the face of the world community. It got to the point that many were inclined to believe that during the experiment, the signs on the cages with rats were mixed up.

The Effect of Nutrition on Fatal Diseases

The most significant experiment described in Colin Campbell's book is a study conducted in China. It lasted more than 30 years and was carried out in 65 counties of 22 provinces of China. Scientists studied the relationship between nutrition and various pathologies of the body, based on studies of blood tests, the composition of cooked meals in different families and food products sold in local stores. No theoretical data or questionnaires were supported; only real facts were taken as the basis for the study. The results of such an experiment confirmed the complete interrelation between nutrition and health.

In addition to the data obtained from the Chinese study, the book also presents other, although less global, but equally interesting experiments and facts that convincingly prove that the generally accepted concepts of proper nutrition are false.

Campbell reports that there is indeed a genetic predisposition to cancer, but genes influence the occurrence of oncology, not its development, which depends on a person's lifestyle and diet.

He also describes a number of experiments in which people who had suffered a heart attack, having adjusted their diet, lived for many more years, while others could have had another heart attack or died after a fairly short period.

A New Approach to Healthy Nutrition and Opinions from Outside

The author of the book, being a recognized expert on nutrition and its relationship with cancer, was invited by colleagues as a co-author of a treatise on the relationship between nutrition and cancer development. However, the published treatise was harshly criticized from all sides. Most of the complaints were voiced by meat and dairy magnates, of whom there are a great many in America.

As for the denial of the incredible results of dietary changes in favor of plant products, the book describes situations that happened to some doctors who began to give recommendations to their patients to change their diet, and as a result were met with misunderstanding and aggression from colleagues. After all, it is much more profitable to perform an autopsy on a deceased person, receiving several tens of thousands of dollars for it, than to advise a patient to eat mushrooms, nuts and cabbage instead of fatty meat.

By leafing through the book, you will find many different experiments in the field of the influence of nutrition on autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases. The book provides recommendations on proper nutrition and consumption of vitamins D and B12, the lack of which, according to many scientists, provokes the occurrence of various pathologies in the body of vegetarians.

The most valuable thing is that the book "The China Study" describes only facts and results of experiments without any influence of religion or other global levers of pressure on people's consciousness. Moreover, the author himself and his family began to look differently at what they eat, having become vegetarians.

We can say that this book turned the consciousness of many people upside down and changed their lifestyle for the better. Sign up for a consultation with a nutritionist and find out his opinion on the nutritional rules proposed in the book. Perhaps reading it will transform you too.
