Triglycerides. Prices, Reviews, Ratings
This test determines triglyceride levels—organic compounds affecting energy storage and cell structure maintenance. Elevated levels may trigger cardiovascular diseases or pancreatic inflammation (pancreatitis).

General Information
Most triglycerides concentrate in adipose tissues and blood cells. Absorbed in the intestine, unused excess accumulates as reserves, often in sedentary individuals or those with high-fat diets.
Triglycerides, like other fats, are water-insoluble, circulating in blood with proteins as lipoproteins. The highest fat concentration is in very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL), which can form plaques on vessel walls, causing blockages.
Poor arterial patency is a primary cause of heart diseases and other serious conditions.
The triglyceride test assesses disease risk and monitors health in patients on low-animal-fat diets.
Indications for Triglyceride Testing
People over 20 should test every 5 years, typically alongside total cholesterol tests, during preventive checkups to assess cardiovascular risk.
Risk groups include:
- Overweight individuals;
- Alcohol abusers;
- Nicotine dependents;
- Those with high blood pressure;
- People with high-animal-fat diets.
It’s critical for myocardial infarction or stroke survivors and diabetics.
How Is the Triglyceride Test Conducted?
Blood is drawn fasting, ideally mornings. Limit fatty/fried foods and intense exercise beforehand. Avoid alcohol, energy drinks, coffee, and tea.
A specialist collects venous blood. The patient sits or lies down, a tourniquet is applied, and they clench/unclench their fist to ensure blood flow. The puncture site is disinfected with alcohol.
Reference values:
- Below 1.7 mmol/L – low heart/vascular disease risk;
- 2.3-5.6 mmol/L – high disease likelihood;
- Above 5.6 mmol/L – risk of cardiovascular diseases and pancreatitis.
