Stool Analysis (Coprogram). Prices, Reviews, Ratings
General Information
Stool analysis enables:
- Detection of pancreatic, stomach, liver dysfunction, or altered metabolism;
- Identification of gastrointestinal inflammation;
- Discovery of intestinal helminths.
The coprogram assesses absorption issues in the duodenum and small intestine, diagnosing ulcerative, spastic, or allergic colitis.
Procedure Process
Preparation
Stop medications 7-10 days before the test. Avoid enemas the day prior. Post-gastrointestinal X-ray, wait two days.
For 4-5 days, follow a diet of dairy, mashed potatoes, soft-boiled eggs, and fresh fruit.
Stool Collection for Testing
Collect biomaterial in a disposable container after spontaneous defecation, filling up to one-third. Label with name, collection date, and birth date.
Avoid testing post-enema, vaseline/castor oil, suppositories, or drugs affecting peristalsis or stool color.
Deliver within 10-12 hours, stored refrigerated at 4-8°C.
Indications
Indicated for detecting or confirming:
- Stomach dysfunction (enzymatic/acid-forming);
- Liver disorders;
- Duodenal/small intestine absorption issues;
- Dysbiosis;
- Gastrointestinal inflammation;
- Colitis.
Test Interpretation
Coprogram results are informational, not diagnostic, and don’t replace a doctor’s consultation. Normal values vary for infants, older children, and adults, and differ in infants based on breastfeeding versus formula.
