ASLO (Anti-Streptolysin O). Prices, Reviews, Ratings
Elevated reference values in ASLO testing are characteristic of rheumatism, chronic tonsillitis, and streptococcal-related conditions – tonsillitis, scarlet fever, purulent inflammation, nephritis, pyoderma.

What is ASLO
Streptolysin O (SO) is a toxic immuno-enzyme produced by Streptococcus groups A, C, and G. Its antigenic properties trigger a specific humoral response. ASLO (anti-streptolysin O) tests serum or plasma for antibodies to SO.
Indications for ASLO Testing
In labs, it’s a marker for streptococcal infections, acute glomerulonephritis, and rheumatoid states. SO levels rise within 7 days of pathology onset, peaking at 14-28 days. During recovery, levels drop from the acute phase, aiding therapy monitoring and disease dynamics. Serial tests every 7 days yield the most diagnostic value. It also differentiates rheumatism from rheumatoid arthritis (lower in arthritis).
How ASLO Testing Is Performed
Venous blood is drawn, and serum is obtained via centrifugation. Measurements use test kits manually or with analyzers.
ASLO testing employs latex immunoturbidimetry. Latex particles coated with SO react with anti-SO antibodies in the sample, causing latex agglutination (RLA). Agglutination intensity, proportional to optical density, reflects ASO concentration.
Photometric antibody concentration is calibrated, building a curve from standard values. Final titers are determined via serial dilutions (1:2, 1:4, 1:8, etc.), calculated by formula, with the highest dilution showing a positive reaction.
Reference ASO range in blood (U/mL): children < 100, adults < 200.
Diagnostic sensitivity and specificity are 95-98%. Single-test diagnosis isn’t advised; it requires clinical-laboratory confirmation.
Processing Time for ASLO Testing
From blood draw to results takes about 30 minutes. Manual testing depends on staff expertise, while automation speeds up the process.
