General information

Procedure
Preparation
As a preparatory process, a number of diagnostic procedures are carried out related to blood and lymph tests of the patient. The functioning of the kidneys and liver, the condition of the skin are checked. The patient should give up tobacco and alcohol a few days before the operation. You should also consult with the plastic surgeon who will perform the operation and find out which medications should be stopped in advance of the surgery.
Arm lift procedure
Local anesthesia can be used for brachioplasty, but more often the operation is performed under general anesthesia, so the patient's condition is under the supervision of an anesthesiologist-resuscitator. The surgeon makes an incision on the inside of the arm. The incision is quite long, going from the armpit towards the elbow joint.
The skin is tightened. The doctor also removes excess fatty membranes in the most inaccessible places. The bumps are affected, and pigment spots are removed from the surface of the skin. The duration of the operation is about one and a half to two hours.
Rehabilitation course
The first three days (on average) the patient is in the hospital under the supervision of a doctor. Sometimes - less. After two weeks, the swelling subsides, the stitches are removed. The arms gradually return to normal, but there is pain. You cannot play sports for about two months. You also cannot visit the sauna, solarium, or pool. Usually scars remain at the site of the operation. The patient must wear special compression underwear. As a method of combating age-related changes, an arm lift is not very effective, even though it is possible to affect pigment spots on the surface of the skin during the operation. However, at the moment, brachioplasty remains the most effective means of improving the overall silhouette of the forearms, especially if the skin is very saggy. The patient's ability to work is restored within two weeks.
Indications
Arm lift is performed at the patient's request in case of serious sagging skin on the shoulders due to liposuction or due to sudden weight loss, as well as for health reasons.
Contraindications
Contraindications include:

Complications
Infection and associated suppuration may develop. Hematomas and seromas, i.e. accumulations of tissue fluid, may appear. However, most complications can be dealt with without much difficulty.
