Radiofrequency Vein Obliteration. Prices, Reviews, Ratings
General information
High-frequency electromagnetic waves are used to close the lumen in the vessel. The operation is performed using visual ultrasound observation.
The activity of the radiation supply ensures heating of the tissue cells with subsequent closure of the channel of the affected vessel. Over time, the vessel turns into connective tissue.
After the operation, the patient is prescribed a compression bandage, which must be kept for 1-2 weeks.
The peculiarity of the RFO procedure is its complete automation, the absence of sutures and incisions, and high cosmetic indicators.
Procedure
Preparation
No special preparatory procedures are required. The patient undergoes an ultrasound examination to confirm the correctness of the chosen therapeutic tactics. A general examination is also required:
- blood test;
- test for sexually transmitted diseases;
- consultation with the attending physician to exclude contraindications.
Immediately before the radiofrequency ablation of veins, it is necessary to remove hair from the limb on which the operation will be performed. The patient can, under the guidance of the doctor, choose a suitable bandage or compression stocking.
Radiofrequency ablation of veins
A puncture is made in the vein, then a radiofrequency conductor is inserted there. When the doctor, under ultrasound control, makes sure that the conductor is installed correctly, local anesthesia ("water blanket") is administered around the vessel. It anesthetizes the process and isolates the vein from the surrounding tissues.
Then the high-frequency generator is started, transmitting waves to the working element of the catheter. One activation allows you to treat 3-7 cm of the affected organ. The generator is turned off, and the catheter is passed along the lumen of the vessel to the next section, the procedure is repeated until the entire vein is treated.
This process ends with the removal of the catheter and the application of a bandage at the puncture site. A compression stocking is put on the limb.
Rehabilitation period
It is important that the patient immediately after the operation and compression of the limb walks a certain distance at a fast pace, spending about 40 minutes on a walk.
Compression underwear will need to be worn for 1-2 weeks. The first few days are not recommended for active physical exercise: aerobics, using a stationary bike, gymnastics. The patient should spend about an hour every day walking, reduce the time spent sitting and standing. Taking a bath with hot water and visiting a sauna is not recommended.
In general, a person after RFO can lead a full life without any special restrictions.
The doctor should conduct an examination after 2-3 days, perform an ultrasound scan. Other follow-up visits to a specialist are also possible.
Indications
The main justification for performing RFO of veins on the legs is varicose deformation of the venous vessels.
Contraindications
The use of this technique is contraindicated in the following circumstances:
- pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- severe atherosclerosis in the legs;
- thrombophlebitis;
- repeated cases of thrombosis;
- infection or inflammatory processes on the skin at the puncture sites;
- difficulty in compression due to the individual characteristics of the patient (for example, with obesity).
Complications
Complications occur in extremely rare cases - up to 2%. Deep vein thrombosis, thrombus expansion along other subcutaneous veins are possible.
Prices and clinics
The operation is performed by a surgeon in an outpatient setting of a surgical clinic or a medical institution with a wide range of specialties. You can find out the prices for the radiofrequency obliteration of veins procedure and read patient reviews in the clinic profiles on .
