General information
Human blood consists of platelets, red, white blood cells and the substance in which they exist. This liquid is a solution of electrolytes and proteins and is called "plasma".
Due to various diseases, an unhealthy lifestyle, bad habits and all sorts of pathologies, it may be necessary to do plasmapheresis. In this mechanical process, blood is removed from the patient's body for the purpose of purification and return back to the bloodstream.
Depending on the nature of the problem, therapeutic or donor plasmapheresis is used. The first method involves removing toxins from the blood. The second is that not all the purified mass is returned to the bloodstream, but only the blood cells, while the plasma is removed for further use for therapeutic purposes, for example, for the manufacture of medical drugs or transfusions.

Blood cells (erythrocytes, platelets, and leukocytes) settle at the bottom of the container, and the yellow plasma fluid collects at the top, after which it is sucked out with a special device. Blood cells, diluted to their natural density with saline, are injected back into the human circulatory system. And further manipulations are performed with the plasma.
The second technology involves filtering the collected fluid in plasma filters. During the process, the treated blood is returned back to the bloodstream.
Procedure
Before the start of the treatment session, the doctor must warn the patient about the possible risks associated with purification. No special preparations are required from the patient.
In most cases, purification takes about an hour and a half, but sometimes it takes longer. If everything goes according to plan, the client should not experience any discomfort.
During the procedure, the patient either lies down or sits in a chair with an adjustable backrest. Usually, catheters are inserted into both arms, less often into the arm and leg, and in some cases, veins in other parts of the body are catheterized.
While the device is performing its cleansing functions, the client needs to be in a calm frame of mind, if possible, listen to music or watch TV.
