Head ultrasound is a procedure for ultrasound examination of the brain (or neurosonography), performed mainly in newborns to identify developmental pathologies, but is also used to diagnose brain diseases in adults. In infants, this diagnostic is most informative, since the cranium has unossified areas - fontanelles, which close during the first year. These are parts of the skull where the bones do not fit tightly together, which allows the use of ultrasound diagnostics. Most often, the anterior opening is used, located between the parietal zones and the frontal bone, it is possible to use the device through the fontanelles located in the temporal zones.
