A few words about hemorrhoids

Many people who have been affected by this disease are constantly wondering whether they will be able to get rid of this problem without surgery. This is quite possible, but in case of timely detection and treatment of the disease. But the fact is that often the symptoms of hemorrhoids do not appear in its initial stage of development, so the patient comes to the doctor with serious problems.

In the early stages of the disease, hemorrhoids are quite small, so they are outwardly invisible. A little later, they make themselves known in the form of discomfort in the anus. Minor bleeding may appear. This stage should not be ignored, but as soon as possible come to the proctologist for examination. The doctor will examine the anus, after which he will be able to determine the diagnosis, and, if necessary, prescribe medications in the form of suppositories, ointments or aerosols. The treatment will take a short period of time (7-10 days). When hemorrhoids are in an advanced state, their nodes greatly increase in size and begin to protrude. If they fall out of the anus, but then return to their place on their own, pharmaceutical drugs can still save the situation.

Causes of hemorrhoids

The main causes of hemorrhoids:

  • frequent constipation;
  • poor nutrition (spicy food, coffee, alcoholic beverages);
  • obesity;
  • hereditary predisposition;
  • impaired blood flow in the rectum;
  • inflammation or tumor of the liver (intestines);
  • infections;
  • hypodynamia (sedentary work and lack of physical activity);
  • excessive physical loads;
  • stress.

Methods for treating hemorrhoids

At the first stages of the disease, local application of suppositories, ointments or preparations in the form of a spray is prescribed. You can also use traditional medicine, but for this you need to be prepared for their long-term use to achieve the desired result.

At the second or third stage of hemorrhoid development, minimally invasive techniques can be used, which mean mini-operations without hospitalization. They are simpler than standard surgical interventions and are characterized by rapid rehabilitation. These include the ligation method, cryotherapy, sclerotherapy. Such methods require a visit to a proctologist from two sessions to several courses of treatment with two-week breaks (depending on the degree of neglect of the disease).

In severe cases, they resort to surgical intervention, carried out under general anesthesia and with hospitalization for the recovery period. Such operations include hemorrhoidectomy, dearterialization, Milligan-Morgan operation, transanal resection using the Longo method, vacuumization and dotation.
