Why send a child to kindergarten
Only parents can decide whether to send a child to kindergarten or not, after carefully weighing all the pros and cons. Teachers have been talking about the need to attend this institution for many years. But before you decide on one institution or another, talk to the parents of children who already go there, get acquainted with the curriculum, discuss the quality of food and service with the head. The most reliable option would be a private kindergarten, but here you also need to know about the pitfalls. So, what does kindergarten give to a child:
1. Ability to adapt to a team
You can go to the playground every day, enroll your baby in a developmental program, sports sections, but this is still not enough. After all, the baby will constantly feel parental closeness and support. In kindergarten, a child learns to independently solve problems, establish communication not only with children, but also with adults (the staff of the institution), build relationships in game moments, defend their position, be an independent unit, and not a mama's boy. Communication skills with teachers will be useful to the child already in adulthood, when it is necessary to conduct a conversation with strangers.
For each child, for a long time, only the parental opinion is authoritative. But thanks to the experience gained in kindergarten, he will be able to easily find a common language with the school teacher, will understand that he should be listened to and sometimes even obeyed.
2. Intellectual and physical development
The abundance of information on the Internet, manuals on the shelves of bookstores provides an excellent opportunity to fully develop the child independently. But still, most parents limit themselves to familiarization with letters, numbers, a variety of colors, geometric shapes. Is it enough to teach a child to count and read? Of course not!
In kindergarten, the little one will be taught all sorts of group games, emotional expression of their own emotions, modeling, construction, drawing, origami art and much more. The child will:
- make appliques, crafts for the family holiday;
- participate in theatrical performances;
- dance, sing in music classes;
- do exercises in physical education;
- communicate with a psychologist, defectologist and speech therapist, if necessary;
- develop speech, logical, intellectual, communicative, mental, motor, creative abilities.
Some state institutions and most private ones include in the program classes in one or two foreign languages, choreography, general developmental modern methods (for example, Montessori). They have a children's pool, a well-equipped gym with the necessary equipment.
Russian preschool education includes the methods of L. A. Venger "Development", T. N. Doronova "Rainbow", V. I. Loginova "Childhood", L. A. Paramonova "Origins", G. G. Grigorieva "Baby" and many others, as well as educational complexes of environmental education, artistic and aesthetic, cognitive and speech, social and moral, physical development of preschoolers, strengthening their health.
It has been noted that the most inveterate silent ones in a group of peers begin to chat, the quiet ones - to defend their interests more actively, bullies learn not to conflict, but to play amicably. Children lose their fear of the world around them. They become more sociable, open. The socialization of the little person begins.
Even the most obedient children do not always want to study within the walls of the house. Collective exercises are much more interesting for everyone, including the most desperate pranksters. A pleasant bonus for parents are festive matinees, where they can admire the performance of their offspring, and a daily mandatory daytime nap (not all children are easy to put to bed at home). The attitude to food in the kindergarten is also important: if the baby is picky in front of his mother, refuses to eat, then this trick will not work with the teacher, and an ordinary cutlet with mashed potatoes disappears from the plate in an instant.
Common mistakes of parents
Most parents attribute the child's reluctance to go to kindergarten to the child's psychological immaturity, the peculiarities of his tender nature, the incompetence of the "evil" staff, etc. In this case, the mother likes to repeat that her little one is simply "not a kindergarten" child. Of course, there are such children, but they are few and far between. There are also cases with unprofessional teachers. However, most problems begin at home and are caused by mistakes made by parents. So, let's talk about parental mistakes:
1. Mom "disappears". In the old-fashioned way, most kindergartens practice the rapid departure of the adult who brought the child. The screaming baby is held by the teacher, and the parent quickly runs away so that the baby does not break away to him. Yes, after that the child calms down and goes to play with the children. But what is going on in the head of the little creature? And there settles horror and fear, pain and a sense of inevitability, a feeling that he has been abandoned and is not needed. Next time, the baby will either hug his mother and have to be "torn away", or with bitter obedience will head to the group. Both options are unacceptable.
You should not forcibly leave the baby. Try to negotiate with him. In extreme cases, stay in the group for a while. The child must let you go himself, agree to separation.
2. Fight fire with fire. Some parents leave their baby until lunch or even for the whole day, believing that in any case the child will calm down and get used to the new life faster. Psychologists categorically do not recommend doing this. The adaptation process should be gradual, starting with 1-2 hours and reaching the whole day as the child gets used to it.
3. Nervous getting ready. Sometimes you want to sleep an extra hour in the morning, and, as a result, we run and get ready for work nervously. Parents, remember: children do not know how to adapt to circumstances as quickly as adults. If you want to lead a smiling baby along the way, and not a tearful reluctant one, start getting ready on time.
I will tell you about the features of adaptation to kindergarten in the next article.
