The nature of the disease
Warts are a consequence of a viral disease, its external manifestation, which became possible because the viruses present in the human body got out of the control of the immune system.
Although only a qualified dermatologist can point out the exact cause of this problem, usually everything comes down to the influence of the following factors:
- damage to the superficial tissues of the skin or damage to the mucous membranes;
- infection of the body with a strain of the virus to which the immune system was not prepared;
- failures in the functioning of the immune system itself.
On the one hand, contact with the carrier of the virus is required for infection, but at the same time, it is impossible to determine exactly when this contact occurred - perhaps a significant period of time has passed since that moment, but the virus was suppressed by the immune system or did not develop for other reasons. One way or another, most of the planet's population carries viruses in their bodies, as unexpected companions of our bodies. But, as in the case of the same herpes, a certain catalyst is needed for the virus to enter the active phase of action. And this is an alarming sign - the appearance of skin warts can be a consequence of not only a decrease in immunity, but also a sign of serious diseases. As a result, with an increase in the number of warts during the examination, it may turn out that the patient needs the help of a dermato-oncologist.
However, usually not everything is so dangerous. But it is unpleasant, especially if the patient is dealing with venereal warts. They are presented in the form of small growths of flesh color, but a harder structure than the skin. They are located on the genitals, around the anus and even in the mouth, that is, where the mucous membrane is especially vulnerable to external irritants. The human papilloma virus (that is the scientific name of this disease) in this form is most often transmitted sexually, and due to its low mobility in the normal state, all segments of the population and most age groups are susceptible to it.
Most people are carriers of the human papilloma virus.
Sometimes venereal warts are so small that they even remain unnoticed after they appear.
How to fight?
This disease is very unpleasant precisely because of the areas of the body that it affects - this virus does not penetrate into the internal organs and blood. However, venereal warts can become a source of infection or progress in size and quantity. Therefore, they must be fought.
At the moment, the papilloma virus itself is almost incurable. This is not a terrible problem, as it may seem. It will simply be in the body, like, for example, the intestinal microflora, but of course it will not help digest food. But the warts themselves are removed, most often with the help of general strengthening therapy. Therefore, the treatment of venereal warts takes on a symptomatic nature, but this does not make it less effective. Surgical intervention is rarely required, as a rule, the essence of help comes down to:
- treatment with medications;
- strengthening the immune system;
- antiviral therapy.
Destruction of the virus itself is complicated by its nature. Like any other virus (for example, HIV), the human papilloma virus is not an independent living organism.
The virus cell does not have a nucleus, it only has its own genetic material, with which it infects other living cells, turning them into mini-factories for the production of the virus. As a result, there are a large number of genetic variations, and therefore the treatment of the papilloma virus itself is ineffective and quite expensive.
At the same time, taken under control by the immune system, it does not cause any inconvenience. The main thing is to cure the symptoms and eliminate the cause of the virus activity. There is no need to be afraid that warts will appear again with each decrease in immunity, with a cold, for example - the mechanism of their activity is different, only 1-2% of carriers are faced with an active manifestation of the virus.
