What do they have in common?

All venereal diseases are obviously transmitted primarily through sexual intercourse. At the same time, this method of transmission is the main one, but for the absolute majority of them it is far from the only one. What do they have in common?

All venereal diseases are obviously transmitted primarily sexually. This is the main method of transmission, but for the vast majority of them it is far from the only one. With the abundance of such diseases, the main ones are, for example, gonorrhea and syphilis.

But in addition to those already known to everyone, there are other venereal diseases, a new generation of diseases of this type. Each type is a new headache for venereologists, dermatologists and infectious disease specialists.

New venereal diseases are characterized by the fact that they are either asymptomatic or are expressed in symptoms of a small form, size and for a long time do not cause significant harm to the patient's body or even anxiety.

They are all the more dangerous - after all, quietly occupying the body, they become stronger, it is more difficult to eliminate them, and the form of the disease itself can acquire a chronic nature, in which, depending on the disease, several other organ systems can be affected. For this, these diseases use the body's fluids, including:

  • blood;
  • saliva;
  • semen;
  • female genital secretions;
  • breast milk.

Moreover, some of these diseases can even be transmitted from mother to child during pregnancy.

And every misfortune has its own name

The new generation of sexually transmitted diseases also have many differences that you need to know about.

With mycoplasmosis, the genitourinary system is affected by a specific bacterium, which in its structure is similar to viruses, fungi, and bacteria at the same time. Mycoplasmas - that is the name of the pathogen - are a parasitic form of life. Mycoplasmosis is accompanied by aching pain in the groin, burning during urination, discharge from the urethra, but at the same time it can be asymptomatic.

Ureaplasmosis is the most controversial disease on this list. The fact is that it is still unclear whether it really exists. After all, ureaplasmas, small bacteria without a shell, were only sometimes found in the tests of patients when there were no other pathogens. It is believed that this bacterium itself is harmless, but can combine with others, causing a real disease. Its symptoms are pain during urination and discharge from the urethra for men, discharge and pain in the lower abdomen for women. At the same time, the symptoms appear much later in the fair half.

Trichomoniasis - differs in the pathogen, but is similar to the previous two in symptoms. It is dangerous because it can provoke premature birth in women and can cause prostatitis in men.

Gardnerellosis is a consequence of a violation of the vaginal microflora, in which some bacteria become more active and dangerous. Most often it is asymptomatic, but sometimes there is a discharge from the external genitalia of a woman of a grayish-white hue, giving off a smell of spoiled fish. Men get sick extremely rarely.

Papilloma is a benign neoplasm, which most often takes the form of a wart, caused by a virus. Growths appear on the genitals, near the anus and can sometimes - in the mouth.

Cytomegalovirus is a virus that is very similar to papilloma (most often it just exists in the body, does not manifest itself if the carrier's immunity is in order), but is dangerous when transmitted from mother to fetus. There is no specific course of treatment, it is necessary to treat with antiviral drugs and immune-supporting therapy.

Genital herpes is the most common viral disease. It differs from the previous two in its symptoms - specific ulcers, characteristically merging into a crust, rashes.

Methods of control

All these new sexually transmitted diseases may have existed before, but were not detected with the then level of diagnostic technologies. In addition, the modern human immune system is weaker, and this is what most of the above diseases "bet on". The course of treatment in the case of bacterial infections is antibiotics. In the case of viral infections - therapy that supports the immune system and special drugs against viruses.

Self-medication is strictly contraindicated; it is necessary to undergo diagnostics with a venereologist.

Ignoring these diseases can lead to complications, including infertility, problems with bearing a child, and chronic diseases of the genitourinary system.
