Sperm is a seminal fluid produced by the organs of the male reproductive system. It consists of seminal fluid, cellular elements - spermatozoa themselves, leukocytes. It also contains fructose, cholesterol, urea, spermidine, pyrimidine and other substances.

It is important to know that the amount of seminal fluid produced depends on age, health, regularity of sexual activity and many other factors.

Sperm production is a complex process involving various body systems. With each ejaculation, a man "loses" from 40 to 200 million spermatozoa. An interesting fact is that the speed of sperm release after sexual intercourse is up to 45 km / h, and the journey to the egg takes spermatozoa from 45 minutes to several days.

Due to the closed nature of the topic of the properties of male seminal fluid, several interesting theories have emerged, which we will consider below.

1. Sperm is a natural replacement for cosmetic skin care products. This theory is based on the complex composition of ejaculate. It contains a number of substances that have a positive effect on health and, in particular, on the skin.

  • Citric acid promotes the rapid removal of toxic elements through the pores. Therefore, it is added to many creams and lotions.
  • Phospholipids and prostaglandins are fats that maintain muscle tone, participate in the normalization of blood pressure, regulate blood flow in the gastric mucosa and protect the skin from negative external influences.
  • Carbohydrates are essential for metabolic processes in the body. In sperm, they are represented by fructose, which has a tonic effect.
  • Nitrogen-containing substances quickly break down into free amino acids and vitamins. They can really have a positive effect on the skin.

Despite the above properties of seminal fluid, it should not be used as a panacea for skin problems. Sperm cannot compete in effectiveness with modern cosmetic products, the concentration of useful elements in which is much higher.

2. Sperm is a high-calorie product. This property of sperm is often discussed. Some publications even compare it with new-generation dietary supplements. But this is not true. The composition of seminal fluid is very complex, but its calorie content is low (4-15 calories). Consuming sperm during a certain form of sexual activity will not affect your figure in any way and is unlikely to improve your overall health.

3. The taste of ejaculate depends on your diet. This is true: a man’s diet affects the composition of his sperm. Research conducted at the University of Berkeley in 2011 proved that the speed and concentration of sperm depend on the choice of food. Experts advise eating more liver, spinach and orange juice.

4. Abstinence improves quality. There is a grain of truth in this. Many couples, planning to conceive a child, take on this process, which is not without pleasure, with great zeal. But frequent sexual intercourse does not speed up fertilization; it is optimal to make 2-3 attempts per week. The volume of ejaculate should have time to accumulate.

5. Sperm is an allergen. A similar property of seminal fluid was noticed in the 50s of the twentieth century. According to statistics, an excessive reaction to contact with male ejaculate accounts for about 1% of all cases of allergy. The main signs of such exposure are asthma attacks, redness, itching, burning of the skin, vomiting.

6. Sperm are very tenacious. This statement is not true. Women are well-known for their fears that they can get pregnant when in contact with sperm in the bath or in public places. However, it has been proven that sperm quickly die from exposure to external factors. They can fertilize an egg only under favorable conditions (vaginal contact).

7. Sperm can improve mood. Surprisingly, this is true. The composition of male fluid includes melatonin and serotonin, and these are the most common antidepressants. Sperm contains oxytocin, estrone and releasing hormones that help relieve stress.

This is proven by the results of a survey conducted by specialists from New York University. It turned out that women who have a regular sexual partner and do not use condoms are less likely to have sleep problems. Moreover, how exactly the sperm entered the body did not matter.

The properties of sperm are still being studied. Therefore, there are many theories and legends that attribute to it a “magical” effect on various body systems. You should not believe everything that is written in the media or said on the street. Any theory requires confirmation.
