One of the most effective methods of combating excess weight is considered to be fasting. It can be conscious (therapeutic) and extreme, but if the first has a clinically proven therapeutic effect, the latter can lead to sad consequences.

The second name for therapeutic fasting is unloading and dietary therapy (UDT). After it, the cardiovascular system, hormonal balance, and metabolic processes in the body are restored. In addition, cases of pregnancy have been identified in women who had been infertile for many years. Therefore, we can also talk about the restoration of reproductive function.

The most important factor in maintaining the result is proper nutrition after fasting, since the weight can return quite quickly and even exceed previous indicators, because the purified cells will absorb nutrients much more effectively. It is necessary to completely change the behavior patterns that led to obesity, follow a diet and stabilize physical activity.

Therapeutic fasting at home

Those starting therapeutic fasting at home must be under the supervision of a specialist who has experience in monitoring various conditions of patients at all stages of RDT, will assess the patient's condition, help him prepare, both physically and mentally, go through the most difficult stage and come out of it without negative consequences.

Each organism is unique and that is why in each specific case an individual approach is necessary depending on the patient's condition, the severity of his disease, age and many other factors. It is necessary to select a fasting method that will determine how to prepare, how many days to fast, how much water to drink, when to start and end fasting, how to go through the adaptation period and return to a normal diet, what diet to follow after therapy.

Independent experiments, given the lack of experience, can entail mistakes with possible complications, both due to improper preparation for fasting and when independently exiting it. Due to the difficult to control appetite during exiting, overeating in the first days, urinary retention and edema, constipation, flatulence and bloating are possible. Dizziness, weakness, fainting may also occur, exacerbations of chronic diseases are possible. In severe cases, RDT should be carried out exclusively in a specialized clinic under the constant supervision of qualified specialists.

Therapeutic fasting for diabetes

Regarding fasting for diabetes, it is strictly forbidden to use RDT for people with type 1 diabetes, since therapeutic fasting can cause serious harm to the body. The danger is that with a lack of nutrients in the body, the likelihood of developing a hypoglycemic condition increases, which is life-threatening for the patient.

Type 2 diabetes is not considered a contraindication for therapeutic fasting and is successfully carried out under the mandatory supervision of a doctor. The only thing I do not recommend is using long courses, therapeutic fasting should last no more than a week. If all the necessary conditions and recommendations of the doctor are met, RDT regulates metabolic processes and reduces the load on the liver and pancreas.
