At the same time, there is also useful, even necessary knowledge on the basics of dermatology. Some people learned it from a doctor, some from their beloved grandmother. And for some, knowledge is mixed with misconceptions into a single ball of information. It is very important to separate the wheat from the chaff and debunk some myths about the "beauty rules" for the skin, since the skin is a very sensitive organ that requires an individual approach. Therefore, what may be harmless for some will be fraught with unpleasant consequences for others.

Myths about healthy skin

There are a number of myths and unreliable facts that are associated with skin care. Each has some truth in it, but their literal understanding prevents the use of the rational grain that is embedded in them. Here is a list of them:

  • Myth #1: the more expensive the cream and other cosmetics, the better. Truth: in fact, good cosmetics and good face creams really cannot be cheap simply because the ingredients they contain are quite expensive in themselves. However, this means that it is worth putting an equal sign between price and quality. Firstly, sometimes the price of a product is artificially inflated due to the popularity of the brand. Secondly, the skin can react completely unpredictably to certain exotic components of the cream. The solution is to use samples and visit a dermatologist to find out which line of creams and cosmetics will not cause harm in a particular case.
Once you have decided on the manufacturer, do not change it so as not to expose your skin to unnecessary stress;
  • Myth #2: chocolate causes acne. Truth: in fact, chocolate itself is harmless to the condition of your facial skin. But if a person is predisposed to inflammatory processes in the sebaceous glands and hair follicles, then an increase in sugar levels (due to the consumption of large quantities of any sugar-containing product, not just chocolate) can really cause acne;
  • Myth #3: the more often you wash your face, the healthier your skin. Truth: as with everything related to health, a sense of proportion is needed here. Compliance with the rules of personal hygiene is mandatory, but washing your face several times a day, especially with special products, washes away the natural protection of the skin, which consists of specific secretions. Therefore, you should wash your face a little less often, using moisturizing and softening skin care products;
  • Myth #4: toothpaste heals acne. Truth: such an absurd method of fighting acne is obviously related to the fact that toothpaste contains triclosan, a substance with antibacterial properties. However, the amount of triclosan varies depending on the paste, and it also contains many other substances that can harm the skin due to an individual reaction. Therefore, if someone once got help from acne with toothpaste, this does not make this method effective. It is better to use another, more natural material. We are talking about clay, which really removes skin irritation, while leaving the pores open to oxygen;
  • Myth #5: You can remove puffiness under the eyes with a cucumber. Truth: This is probably the most famous and widespread myth about the beauty of the skin. In fact, puffiness under the eyes occurs due to too much fluid retention in the body. Cucumbers cool the delicate skin under the eyes, but this only gives a short-term effect.

All of the above myths may indeed be true, but only in certain cases. To find out what your facial skin will like and what you should stay away from, you need to make an appointment with a dermatologist or seek help from a good cosmetologist. Both of these specialists will not only tell you how to bring your skin back to normal, but will also determine which natural remedies will help in a particular case.

The main rules for beautiful skin

But there are also general recommendations that will help maintain good skin condition, its tone, firmness and elasticity.

The first rule is to monitor your diet and water balance. As for the latter, it is advisable to focus not on generally accepted norms, but on your own feelings.

When it comes to nutrition, for healthy skin it is necessary to include fish, fruits and vegetables in your diet. They not only contain vitamins and active substances that directly positively affect the skin, but also support immunity, and the skin is one of the main indicators of health. If the immune system weakens, the skin condition will deteriorate very quickly.

An obvious rule, which many actually neglect, is to immediately contact a dermatologist in case of any skin disease. You can count on the fact that herpes on the lip will go away on its own, and a papilloma can be simply burned out with celandine. However, the occurrence of such diseases, like any dermatitis, means a malfunction in the body, so it is better to consult a professional.

The golden rules of skin beauty should also include the correct selection of serum. It should contain vitamins A, C, E, and it will not hurt if it includes grape seeds. Moreover, the serum should be applied not only to the face, but also to the neck, décolleté.

It is also important to monitor the acceptable moisture of the skin. Use a night cream that contains retinol, a substance that promotes skin regeneration. If you are indoors all day, you can moisturize your skin by spraying it with thermal water.

Instead of cucumbers, you should use a special eye cream. The skin under the eyes is very thin, and the capillary system there is especially sensitive. If you need to reduce swelling, you should cool the cream itself a little.

You should avoid applying any type of makeup with your hands. It is better to use special products, such as sponges. It is recommended to cleanse the skin using scrubs and peels no more than once a week. It is better to use mild chemical cleansers containing glycolic acid.
